Epilogue

It was over, I realized with a shocked expression. Everything we had come for was done and over with. I breathed a sigh of relief. The human race and vampyres alike, were alive thanks to us. I slumped to the ground, exhausted and weary.

My eyes took in the full scene of the once white room: Cooper lay, head blown to bits as blood covered every square inch of the room, the four zombie dogs lay with their heads severed, Ragginao lay dead, and Alleeah and Cayden moved towards me.

I still seen no sign of Jay and Alleeah's withdrawn expression seemed to scream something that I didn't want to accept for her.

"Cayden?" I asked once he was close enough

He tilted his head, waiting for me to continue. "Where's Jay?"

That must've been the wrong thing to say because immediately Alleeah burst into tears and Cayden looked down, his shoe scraping the tile floor.

"Where is he?!" I snapped, my anger and denial growing.

"HE'S DEAD!" Alleeah snapped, more tears falling.

I was stunned into silence.. I never thought he would die, hell I didn't even think Ragginao would, but he had. I stood up carefully and pulled Alleeah into my arms. She didn't even fight it, she just pressed her face into my neck and sobbed. I rubbed her back comfortingly as I questioned what would happen now.

Would things go back to us being lovers? Or would she become a suicidal wreck? Or could we all move on from this?

Slowly her sobs and tears stopped to give way to her heavy breathing. She had fallen asleep in my embrace. I gazed over at Cayden and he merely shrugged.

I nodded my head and mouthed, "Lets go."

I scooped Alleeah into my arms and we flashed down into the main room where I saw remnants of Jay's clothing. Seeing just his clothes made me gag and a few tears slip for the vampyre I had just seen alive, but now was not the time to grieve.

I quickly made it outside with Cayden and like so many other places before, I searched the place for explosives. I found them in a little building which I broke into and soon placed them all within the confines of the building. I flashed past the door which was now blazing with a fire and lit them all up.

I retreated out of the building to watch the largest explosion I would ever create. Cayden and I stood out over a hill to see the explosion of oranges and reds while Alleeah was back in my arms and still fast asleep.

I leaned into Cayden, feeling safe for once and without fear, without worry, but sad for those we lost. However, I knew our life would continue, maybe a few complications with Alleeah now that Jay was gone, but we would move forward and like most vampyres do, we would in the shadows of the night.
