chapter 33 - what will happen next?

You came to work the next morning with the brightest smile ever than before. Maki was the first one to notice how bright you looked so she approached you.

"Hey, you're in a good mood. Anything interesting happened?" she asked with a cup of coffee in her hand.

"Hey, Maki." you smiled at her, "Well, actually yes. Something great happened to me."

Maki lowered her voice, "Do you want to tell me? Because I want to know."

"I.. have a boyfriend now."

Maki covered her mouth with her other hand in shock, and she stayed like that for a few minutes. "Oh my god, Y/n. That's awesome. Who is it?"

"Someone I used to have a crush on back in university. I can't believe I'm dating him now." you said, "I feel so.. grateful."

"Do you have a picture of him?" Maki asked, feeling curious.

You scrolled through the gallery in your phone and found a picture of him and showed it to her.

"Girl, that guy is a hottie! I'm so happy for you!"

If only Nobara would react that way..

"Yeah, I hope our relationship could last long."

"Of course!" Maki cheered for you.

Before you could say anything, Kento passed by and stopped to look at the both of you. "Good morning, ladies."

"Morning, boss." Maki slightly bowed to him and smiled.

"Morning." you smiled.

Kento smiled back and headed straight to his office.

"We'll talk later, okay? Let's eat lunch together." Maki said and you nodded in reply, then she scrambled off to her desk.

You stood up from your seat, gathering a few files and walked to Kento's office. "I have a few files to give you. Can you check them?" you asked him.

"Sure, come." he nodded.

You gave him the files and noticed his eyebags, "Did you.. sleep well?"

He looked at you with a confused look until he realized, "Oh. I actually haven't been sleeping."

"Why?"

"I actually stumbled upon this one app where they have good novels and I read them every night. It's funny how I didn't notice the time when reading them." he explained, "I only slept for 2 hours these past few days or didn't sleep at all."

"I think you should slow down with that and make sure to get enough sleep." you said, giggling.

"Yes, thank you for concerning, Y/n." he replied with a giggle as well. "I'll try to slow down."

You let Kento checked the files and decided to head towards your desk. You then looked over to your phone and noticed Satoru's texts -
