Lt. Wren 'Atlas' Donahue is returning to Top Gun to train for an elite mission. Rivalries from her time at the academy and a certain distracting pilot are sure to make the mission more interesting. (Bradley Bradshaw x oc) -Completed
Back at the dorm house Wren was sitting at the table on the deck across from Bob. In front of them was a deck of cards and a pile of small bills.
"What's going on here?" Coyote asked pulling up a chair to join them at the table.
"Texas hold'em," Wren said not taking her eyes off of Bob. His poker face was impeccable, she couldn't tell if he had a good hand or not and had already lost a decent chunk of change to him.
"Don't bother Coyote, it's a scam. Don't let his friendly face fool you. Bob will rob you of any money you have," Phoenix said from her chair off to the side. Bob smirked in Phoenix' direction, and Coyote pushed himself back away from the table taking a seat next to Phoenix instead.
"So anyone have anyone special waiting for them back home?" Coyote asked.
"This feels very high school. Next you'll be bringing out a bottle and getting us all to sit in a circle," Wren teased.
"Don't worry Atlas, I don't want to catch your cooties. Besides my girl is back home waiting for me. We have a kid on the way too."
"Congrats man. That's great. Boy or girl?" Payback asked.
"We're waiting until I'm back to find out," he pulled out a picture of a woman and passed it around. "So anyone else?"
Phoenix sat forward in her chair and grabbed a picture from her wallet as well, passing it around.
"This is my girlfriend of a few years now."
Hangman grabbed the picture and wolf whistled. Wren grabbed it from his hands and passed it back to Phoenix.
"Jeez Hangman, that's enough out of you for the night," Wren said as Phoenix tucked the picture back into her wallet.
"Atlas, don't ruin the fun. I was just joking. Besides I only have eyes for you." Hangman got up from his chair and picked Wren up, tossing her over his shoulder. Wren's cards scattered across the deck and her laugh rang out.
"Let me down you goon. This is definitely high school all over again."
Hangman dropped her onto the chair beside Coyote and the group returned to sharing stories about loved ones back home. Wren looked to where Rooster had been leaning up against the railing, but he was no longer there. Looking over Bob's shoulder she said the back of his shirt disappear into the dorm house he had been assigned. Looking around seeing everyone deep in conversation, she decided she wouldn't be missed and followed after him.

The house that Rooster, Fitz, Payback, and Fanboy shared was almost identical to the one Wren called home for the past few days, down to the chipped paint covering the walls. In the kitchen, Rooster had his back to her as he dug through the fridge looking for another beer. The yellow light in the dim room made his tan pop, and Wren couldn't help but notice the way that the Hawaiian print shirt clung to his arm muscles and showed off the definition in his back.
"Beer?" He asked holding one out to Wren without looking up from the fridge. She grabbed it from his hand and hopped up to sit on the counter. Pulling another beer out, he leaned up against the counter next to her and the two watched the rest of their team out of the kitchen window in silence for a moment.
Wren opened her mouth to say something, but the atmosphere felt tense and uncomfortable and she wasn't sure what to say to break it. Luckily she did have to think for much longer, because Rooster spoke first.
"So you and Hangman?" Wren sighed. She figured the conversation would come up after Hangman all but told everyone outright the first day. She was trying to sort through what to say but he continued. "I mean I'm not surprised. I just feel like a dick for so blatantly flirting with you this entire time when you clearly weren't interested. You could've told me to fuck off ya know."
"Ok hold the phone. Hangman and I are old news. Actually we weren't even news. More like a weird continual mistake among friends, but definitely not something we've picked up again."
Rooster looked at her out of the corner of his eye but didn't turn to face her fully. She decided this was a hint to continue talking.
"Also I don't know where you got the idea I wasn't interested, but I probably wouldn't have been flirting back if I wasn't." With this, Rooster finally turned to face Wren.
"So you were flirting back?" he said stepping to stand between her legs, placing his hands on either side of where her thighs rested on the counter.
"You may be a great pilot but you're not the smartest man I've ever met. I think I was being pretty obvious."
"I am a pretty good pilot, aren't I?" Rooster took a step closer so he was pressed right up against the counter.
"And super humble too. Is this obvious enough?" Wren said leaning down slightly. Her eyes were starting to close as their lips neared each other, when the back door clanged open. Rooster jumped back from Wren, who hopped down from the counter. They quickly grabbed their beers and made their way back to the deck, passing Payback on their way out. He gave them a funny look but didn't say anything.
