I opened the door to the bathroom and started to slowly make my way across the room to the bed as Jimmy jumped to his feet from the chair next to the bed and slid his arm around me. "I'm fine, Jimmy, I can make it fifteen feet to the bed."
"She gave birth, she didn't get shot. I think she can handle walking." Gloria said from the other chair, holding a peaceful Riley in her arms.
"I know." Jimmy said with a sheepish grin.
"Guys stop, he's cute." My sister said as she came up and pinched his cheek. "He just wants to take care of his baby mama."
"Thank you Bridget, at least someone is on my side here." Jimmy said as he hugged me and leaned over, gently guiding me to sit on the edge of the bed again. He stood up and smiled almost shyly at me as he fluffed the pillow behind my back and went to stand up.
I reached out and grabbed him by his button down and pulled him closer and kissed his cheek. "Thank you." I whispered in his ear.
Jimmy smiled and gently took my chin in his hand and nodded ever so slightly. "Always." He whispered against my lips before he kissed me softly.
"I'm just happy to see someone who truly cares about my sister." She said with a smile as she came and sat next to me.
"So am I." I agreed as I put my arm around my little sister. "So... when are we gonna be sitting in a room like this for you?"
Bridget snorted and stood up. "I highly doubt it will be any time soon."
"What? Why not?" I asked, knowing that Bridget had been late a few months ago and was disappointed when the pregnancy test was negative and she got her period a few days after that.
Bridget shrugged and was about to say something when the door opened and Ian popped his head in. "Room for one more in here?"
"Ian? What are you doing here? I thought you had to run to the station?" Bridget asked, crossing her arms over her chest.
"I did, but I figured someone meeting her uncle for the first time was more important than some paperwork." Ian said as he leaned down to kiss Bridget.
I watched as my sister turned her head and pointed towards my daughter, still in her other aunt's arms, her husband's lips landing on her cheek instead. "Well she's sleeping."
"Wake her up." Ian said with a shrug.
"Absolutely not." Bridget yelled in a whisper. "You don't ever wake a sleeping baby if it can be avoided."
I glanced over at Jimmy who was watching the exchange closely, his jaw jutting out slightly and I noticed the vein in his forehead rising above the skin. I caught his eye and glanced towards them then shrugged slightly. Jimmy shook his head, his mouth falling into a slight frown after he mouthed the word 'later' to me. I looked over at Gloria as she adjusted Riley's hat, watching Bridget and Ian out of the corner of her eye.
"Well I didn't come here for nothing, I came here so she could meet me." Ian said as he pulled out his phone and looked at the screen before putting it back in his pocket.
"Why is Nessa calling you now?" Bridget asked as she looked over at the clock on the wall briefly. "It's after midnight."
"She probably just wanted to know if I'm still going to finish that paperwork tonight." He said, rolling his eyes. "Not like I have to explain my every move to you."
"No, I'm only your wife not some secretary." Bridget snapped.
Ian chuckled uncomfortably and glanced around, seeming to notice Jimmy, Gloria, and I for the first time. "Can we not do this here?"
