Chapter 49

Just a few minutes after Jimmy and I got out of the shower there was a quiet knock on the door and it opened a crack and I smiled when I saw my brother poke his head in.

"Is my niece still accepting visitors?" He asked.

"Only special ones." I replied.

"Oh sucks for you, bye Liam!" Maya said as she slipped past him and pushed him back into the hallway and closed the door with a laugh.

"Listen, I've had about enough of dealing with your mouth today." Liam said with a chuckle as he slipped through the door and came up to my other side as Jimmy was helping me to the bed.

"Guys!" I said as I slapped them both away. "I had a baby, I'm not dying."

"Yeah, well, I've been dying to be able to do this for you since you told me we were having her so let me have my moment." Jimmy said as he rested his hand on my lower back again.

"And it's my job to make sure this idiot doesn't mess up." Liam said as he pulled the blankets down and held my hand as I settled back against the pillows.

"Hey! Lee!" I chastised with a laugh.

"No, he's right." Jimmy said as he wheeled Riley's bassinet over next to my bed once again. "But I've managed so far.

"How are you feeling Mads?" Liam asked and leaned over and gave me a hug.

"Sore, but I feel a lot better after taking a shower." I answered as I kissed him on the cheek.

"Only sore? Jimmy told us you couldn't get drugs." Maya said.

"I mean, yeah it hurt like hell, but it was worth it." I told my best friend.

Jimmy lifted Riley and cradled her in his arms. "I am so proud of you Maddie, you were amazing."

"Ok, I'm done trying to be nice, let's see that baby." Maya said excitedly.

"Just for that, babe, give her to Lee first." I said with a smirk towards my best friend.

"Rude." Maya said with a pout.

"Sorry, Mommy makes the rules." Jimmy told Maya as he passed Riley over to my brother.

"Oh wow, Mads, she looks just like you when you were a baby." Liam said as he ran the back of his finger over Riley's cheek. "She's beautiful."

I settled into the pillows behind me and smiled. "She is isn't she?"

"Just like Momma." Maya said as she plopped a bag of food on the bedside table. "And while Uncle Liam is taking care of Riley, Auntie Maya can take care of Mommy and Daddy. Big Macs and fries."

"You are my favorite person in the world." I said with a smile as I took the bag and opened it and handed Jimmy one of the burgers.

"Excuse me?" He said with a smirk.

"I mean second, Riley's first of course." I corrected with a wink towards Jimmy who just rolled his eyes and took a bite out of his burger. "Did you remember my-"

"Honey mustard?" Maya finished for me as she dropped 3 containers on the table. "Of course, I know you can't have your fries without it."

"Saint Maya to my rescue." I said with a chuckle as I opened one and dug in with a few fries.

"Thanks Maya, I don't think I ate anything today." Jimmy said as he pulled his chair closer so he could reach the fries easier. "I was too afraid I'd throw up waiting for Mads to come down the aisle, and then that little angel decided to make her grand entrance a bit earlier than expected and this is the first time I've had a chance to just sit down since leaving the Duffy's."
