****Two Weeks Later****

We arrived in Orlando late last night with the crews of both The Tonight Show and Late Night, and the flight down was hell. Jimmy was in a bad mood because instead of going to pick Winnie up from Nancy, we got stuck in security and they gave Jimmy a pat down that he swears wasn’t random. The flight was delayed and when it finally took off there was so much turbulence it made us both nauseous. We ended up just coming right to our room when we got to the hotel and going to bed.

It was about 10am and I just got out of the shower and I went and sat on the edge of the bed next to where Jimmy lay on his stomach snoring. “Wake up, sleepy head.” I said as I lightly scratched my nails up and down his bare back.

"Uh-uh." He mumbled into the pillow. "You come back to bed."

"No, c’mon Jimmy it’s a beautiful day and I wanna go to the beach," I told him as I got up and went to my suitcase and pulled out my bikini that I’d gotten for the trip. It was retro-inspired, semi-high waisted navy with white polka dots and I absolutely loved it.

"Right, because what two white assed Irish people need is a day on the beach in the Florida sun in the middle of June," he said as he finally rolled over and sat up in bed.

"And being an ass on the first day of vacation is what we need? Get up." I said as I dropped my towel and slipped my suit on and tossed a bottle of sun block onto the bed next to him. "Besides, they make that for a reason."

"It might be a vacation for you but someone of us have to actually work." He snapped as he grabbed his boxers off the floor next to the bed and slipped them up his legs as he stood up.

I crossed my arms over my chest and raised one eyebrow at him. “Ok this shit has to stop, it ain’t cute. You’ve been a royal pain in my ass since we were at the airport yesterday.”

"That was no random pat down. He grabbed my ASS, Madelyn!" He called from the bathroom.

"I don’t blame him, Jimmy." I said with a laugh. "Have you SEEN your ass?"

Jimmy popped his head out of the doorway and pointed his toothbrush at me. “You wouldn’t be laughing if it had been a chick who had done it.”

"And you wouldn’t be so pissed off about it, and in turn, treating me like shit either."

He didn’t reply as I heard him brush his teeth. After a couple minutes he came out and came up to me and rested his hands on my ass and pulled me close to him.

"I’m sorry, baby." Jimmy kissed my forehead. "I’m just really in a funk. I don’t mean to take it out on you."

"I’ve noticed. You’ve been in a funk since we’ve left and I couldn’t help but wonder why." I told him. "It dawned on me when I was in the bathroom taking my birth control. I’m sorry Jimmy. If I could change it I would."

Jimmy furrowed his brow. “What do you mean you noticed? I haven’t said a word.”

"You didn’t have to. Tomorrow is your first Father’s Day and we are here and Winnie is back home. I get it. I understand." I patted his chest and kissed him softly before moving over to his suitcase and pulled out his black, white, and teal plaid swim trunks and threw them at him. "I just don’t like it being taken out on me when there’s nothing I can do to change it or control the situation. Believe me if I could I would."

Jimmy sat on the edge of the bed and ran his hands through his hair. “I know you would Maddie.” He looked up at me and smiled, but I could still see the pain in his eyes. “I’m glad you’re here though, I love you.”

"I’ll always be here when you need me, Jimmy." I told him with a smile. "I love you so much."

Jimmy stood up and held my face in his hands and kissed me softly. “I’m lucky to have you.”
