Sunday I decided to drive to Boston to spend a few hours with my family. I didn’t get to see them that often living on LA, so it will be nice to be just a four hour drive away again. I left at seven in the morning in my car that had been sent out from California and made great time, getting to my parents house just before 11. I spent the day with my parents, my older brother Liam, his wife Stacy and their 3 year old twins, Sebastian and Ariel, and my younger sister, Bridget. I made the wise choice to not mention my date with Jimmy because my mom would have driven me up a wall with all her questions. Around seven that night I got back in my car with Sir Floof and headed back home. It feels good to call New York home again, even if I was living in a hotel at the moment.
The next day as I was getting ready for work, I got a text from Jimmy.
Can’t wait for tonight, I hope you like my plans. It’s nothing fancy, jeans would be perfect. I’ll pick you up at 7.
Do I get any hints?
Nope ;)
No fair. :(
Don’t worry, you’ll love it. Have a good day, and I’ll see you tonight if I don’t run into you at work.
Alright, I trust you. I can’t wait. Later Jimmy.
The day seemed to fly by and take forever at the same time. I was busy working on several sketches and the costumes for them, had lunch with Seth and Fred, another meeting with Lorne, and counted down until it was finally time to leave. Sir Floof and I walked back to my hotel at 5:30, I fed him and got dressed. I put on a pair of dark skinny jeans and a lightweight purple sweater. I left my hair down and curly, Jimmy always used to tell me he liked when I wore it down. Right at 7 there was a knock on the door I took a deep breath and shook out my nerves for a second before going to open it.
"Hey Jimmy," I said with a smile. He looked amazing, even in just a simple pair of jeans with a blue, red and white plaid shirt with a leather jacket. I decided to give him a pass on the red sneakers because the rest of him looks so good.
"Hi Madelyn, these are for you," he pulled his hand out from behind his back and grinned. "I hope they’re still your favorite."
"I can’t believe it, yes lilies are still my favorite," I said as I took the flowers from him and sniffed them. "How did you know?"
Jimmy shrugged as he followed me into the room so I could put the flowers in a mug of water since I didn’t have a vase in the hotel. “You got a bouquet when you first started, and then every year on your birthday from your grandma when we were on SNL.”
"And you remembered?" I asked as I put Sir Floof in his crate then stood in front of him.
"Of course I did," he grinned and leaned down to kiss me softly. "You ready?"
"Definitely," I smiled at him as he took my hand and led us out of the room and down to the car he had waiting. "So what’s the big mystery plan, Fallon?"
"First, dinner. I made reservations at a casual Italian place, I hope that’s ok?" Jimmy said as we got in the car.
"That sounds great, actually." The drive to the restaurant was about 20 minutes, he asked me about my weekend I asked him about Winnie, and we talked a little about work.
Once at the restaurant we each ordered a pasta dish and Jimmy reached across the table for my hand. “I’m sorry if this freaks you out a bit, but I just have to let you know that I haven’t been able to get you off my mind all weekend. I put on a good front for the show, but it’s been a long time since I’ve really laughed like we did Friday night, so thank you.”
