The last thing you saw was the black pavement before your were forced into the void of sleep.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~The dark errieness of the night that had fallen onto the world couldn't have caused any dark feelings in the high spirited men. Sniper, who was driving the van, could hear the cheering behind him as they exchanged stories from battle. It had been and easy day as they absolutely demolished the B.L.U team not to mention that they were heading back to the main base where most of them felt more comfortable. They had spent a week battling away at a makeshift base and the drive back to the main base was a long one. It was dark by the time they were anywhere close to 'home'. It would have been an even more pleasant ride if all the achohal had been hogged by a certain scot. Even without the assistance of the intoxicating drink though the mood remained high. A raather rare and strange occurrence. Interrupting Sniper's thoughts was the sound of an annoying voice behind him.
"So, how long till we're back at da base?" A certain Bostonian asked for what had to have been the fiftieth time this trip. Sniper checked the time.
"'Bout an hour" he announced. The men breathed a slight sigh of relief. Even in high hopes they all knew one stray comment could set someone off. It didn't help to be stuck together with no hope of escape for hours. Quickly growing bored of staring at nothing but the dark, empty road in front of him, Sniper decided to do something completely unprecedented.
"So spook...how'd the battle go for ya?" Spy, who sat in the passenger's seat, was slightly shocked that the Australian man spoke to him. He didn't outwardly express it though, instead keeping his usual cold and uncaring demeanor. He did let out dark chuckle though as he found ammusent in Snipers questions though. He recounted the easy battle with a pretentious and prideful view.
"Well ze BLUs are pazetic. It almost voids ze fun when it feels as easy as stabbing a blind man in ze back...almost...'ow was your battle bushman?" Sniper, now entirely more entertained with talking than watching the road, had most of his attention on Spy.
"Yeah. They were all a bunch a no-hopers! Turned their heads into a fine red-"
"BREAK!" The sudden yell cut through the conversation and, following what he was screamed, Sniper slammed on the breaks. The sound of crashing and thumps filled in the camper as the men were thrown from their seats. Some landed ontop of eachother while others were able to remin steady. Groans of pain and sounds of curses quickly flouted around the van. Once the men had regained enough of their senses to think aboyt what just happened it wasn't too long before they began yelling.
"Vhat did ve stop for?!"
"What da hell man!"
"WHAT IS GOING ON UP THERE!" And on and on. Sniper and Spy were silent though as shock rang through their systems. They had their eyes glued on the small body that laid in the middle of the road. They were left at a complete loss of words and they tried to logically explain what they were seeing...
A kid...it as a kid passed out on the road in the middle of the desert...
When the men continued yelling but received not a single responce, nothing but silence was heard throught the van. The eerie feeling of the unexplained situation bit at the mens curiousity and fear. Medic spoke up once again.
"Sniper, Spy...vhat is going on up zere?" There was once again a long pause before Sniper seemed to came back to earth enough to respond.
"There's...there's a kid...on the road..." Sniper spoke as if he didn't belive the words coming from his own mouth. All the men gave each other confused glances. A kid? That's not possible! No one lives anywhere near here! Medic decided to finally go to the front and see what the men were talking about. He paused with them for a moment before verbally expressing his shock.
"...Scheisse...'' Unlike the other two shocked men in the front seat, Medic sprung into action. He practically ran out the back door and to the front of the camper. The other men in the back of the camper instinctively grabbed their guns. They would have headed out with him if it weren't for the fact that Sniper said it was just a kid but they were ready to attack if it was some type of trap laid by the B.L.U's. Once Medic made it to the frount of the van he used the medlights to see what he was doing. The moment he stepped closer though he nearly from. She...
She had wings!
"Ach du lieber Gott" Medic spoke underneath his breath as his eyes widened further. Even though the realization of that completely shocked him, he had more pressing matters. He swiftly kneeled next to grab the little girls wrist. He waited a moment as dread filled him. Soon he felt a bit of relief
A pulse...
a light and unstable one but a pulse nonetheless! Once he removed his hand though, he saw words tattooed onto the girl's wrist.
PROPERTY OF MUCCC
He looked at it for a moment with confusion. What type of person tattoos a child? let alone call her property!
Then again this wasn't just any child...
He was very confused and couldn't see very well with only the light being from the headlights. He carefully and cautiously picked up the little girl and headed back to the van. When he walked in the once happy and cheerful atmosphere changed. Now the men stared at the young girl in Medics arms with utter confusion and wonder. Medic ignored the stares, he had to get her stable and somewhere with better medical tools. He turned to Sniper with a serious look.
"She's alive but not stable. Ve need to get to ze base quickly" Medic spoke with concern and Sniper didnt hesitate to start driving again, this time at a faster speed. Medic continuously checked the little winged girls breathing and started treating her with what he had. Luckily there was still some water left so he was quick to give her that, making sure to lift her head as the water bottle touched her chapped lips. He could tell she was dehydrated but at least not severely. He then began to fix some of the cuts on her body. Her face seemed to have suffered a lot of trauma. As he looked over the cuts he noticed that very few were ones from a fall of some kind. Almost every injury sustained on her body pointed towards foul play from purple handmarks to deep cuts from soem weapon or another. He had managed to quickly clean some seemingly freshly dried blood from the little girl's body. When he finally looked to your wings he let his shock sink in a bit...
What even were you?
The doctor knew how to work with injured wings from how many times his doves had managed to get hurt. Luckily there were only bruises and scars though. Nothing he could fix at the moment with the tools he had. All he could do was hope that the water was enough and that there weren't any internal injuries. After carefully laying you down onto the ground in the middle of the van he finally, took his seat and stared around at the other men. All of the men's focus was on the little girl, Specifically the wings that laid next to her. There was silence as the moment set in...
This was a little girl
a beaten little girl...
In the desert...
With wings...
"What...what is it doc?" Scout cut in again. Medic looked to him with an unsure look
"A little girl...?" Medic didn't sound too sure of his answer. The suddenly not so drunk scot spoke up.
"Thanks capim obvious. The boy was talkin bout the wings!" He pointed out. Medic slightly glared at him.
"I'm a doctor, not a psychic" Medic was quick to point out. Demo slightly glared back before mumbling under his breath
"Ye ain't really a doctor either..." Demo slightly mocked earning aneven more intense glare from Medic. Heavy decided he would speak before that conversation got out of hand.
"Es leetle one okay?" Medics eyes softened slightly as he looked to Heavy.
"She is stable jes but I cannot do a full examination here. As of right now she has no fatle injures. She vas only slightly dehydrayed. I don't know vhat ze cause of her black out vas. Mein best guess vould be physical exhaustion" Medic explained what he could to the men. The rest of the ride was silent as the men stared at the small unconscious body. Whatever you were...
You weren't human...
