i absentmindedly make my way up the front porch steps and knock on the front door.

siwoo opens it. "chaewon!" she says, looking me up and down, noticing i'm barefoot and completely alone. "oh my god, what happened?" she asks me. "i've been so worried! where's yeonjun?" she asks me.

i shrug. i don't care where he is. he's heartless and can't control his temper.

"juwon told me what happened. he told me about the argument and that yeonjun stormed out and you ran after him." she says. "honey, i'm so sorry you had to hear that. i was going to talk to yeonjun calmly about it but sehun decided to take matters into his own hands while i was gone." she says, irritated at her husband. "i'm so, so sorry, sweetheart!" she says to me. "the last thing i wanted was for our lovely guest to get caught up in their stupid feud." she says.

i shake my head. "don't worry, it wasn't your fault." i say to her.

"where's yeonjun?" she asks me again,

"i don't know." i say.

"you weren't with him?" she asks me. "what happened?"

"i was with him." i start saying. "i got him to pull over and tried to talk with him. but then he said something without thinking." i say. "an uber picked me up. i'm sorry, i didn't mean to cause any trouble."

"no, sweetheart, you've done nothing wrong. you tried to talk with him and calm him down, which is exactly what he needed." she tells me. "what did he say?" she asks me.

i look up at her. as mad as i am at him for what he sais, he's already in a lot of trouble so there's no point digging him deeper.

"i-it doesn't matter now." i say quietly.

"he upset you, chaewon, of course it matters." she says.

she's so sweet and calm. she's understanding and caring. she's such a good mom. i miss my mom. i want to go home.

i just shake my head. i'm good at putting on a smile even if i'm hurt to annoyed. so i do what i do best. "honestly, everything is fine." i say to her with a reassuring smile. "he meant no harm. just wasn't his smartest moment." i say to her.

"oh chaewon, you're such a lovely girl." she says. "you didn't deserve this."

"no, it's okay." i say. "every family has arguments, so me coming into your home, it would have been wrong for me to assume it would be all sunshine and daisies. it's alright, honestly." i say to her.

juwon stands at the door of the living room, looking at me.

"i've got to start making dinner." she decided. "have you got any idea where yeonjun is?" she asks me.

"we pulled over by this empty carpark, i don't know where it was though." i say to her.

she nods. "juwon, you have beomgyu's number right?" she says to her son. "why don't you call him and ask if they're together?" she suggests before walking into the kitchen.

juwon takes his phone out of his pocket and i walk over to him quickly before he can make the call. "um...i don't think that's a good idea." i say to him quietly.

"why?" he asks me.

"um. beomgyu's the one who gave him the black eye." i tell him.

he frowns. "what? but they've always been so close?" he says. "what happened?"

i can tell juwon, right?

"well...at the party last night, beomgyu sort of started coming onto me and he was taking things a bit far." i start saying. "so when yeonjun found us, he stopped him and things got a bit messy." i say, to put it lightly.
