i feel tired and i have a headache and i'm fed up with yeonjun's mixed signals but i pretend to be happy and smily when i go downstairs anyway. i'm dressed in a pair of denim shorts with a white tank top. i've put makeup over my neck, and my hair is up in a claw clip. when i get downstairs, i'm hit with the smell of bacon and egg. juwon and jihye are sat at the kitchen island while sehun is at the stove cooking.

"hello!" jihye beams, while nibbling at the end of her bacon with her fingers.

"morning." i smile back at her.

juwon looks up from his phone to me with a strange expression. he's sat in front of his empty plate as he studies my face like he's trying to work something out. does he know something?

"morning, chaewon! you got back late last night." sehun says. "we went to bed before you arrived."

"i was awake." juwon says.

oh god, what does he know? luckily he doesn't say anything else.

siwoo walks in before i can respond. "morning, chaewon, how was the movie?" she asks.

"oh, uh- it was good thanks." i say.

"what did you watch?" juwon asks with a small smile, leaning towards me in the slightest. he's interrogating. why is he interrogating.

"the conjuring three." yeonjun says, appearing from around the corner behind me, slightly making me jump. thank god he answered, my mind went blank.

"a horror?" siwoo asks, looking at me.

i nod. "yeah, love horror films." i make up.

"each to their own." she laughs.

juwon's eyes flick between yeonjun and i, but he says nothing. he knows we're lying, doesn't he?

"chaewon, how do you like your eggs?" sehun asks.

not long after, all six of us are in the car. it's a seven seater. parents in the front, then yeonjun and i, and juwon and jihye are in the very back. still don't know where we're going, but i'm excited

"right. first free day since you've arrived in new york." siwoo announces, causing a small sense of excitement in the car.

except yeonjun just looks miserable and bored as he stares out of the window, as if he doesn't want to be a part of this.

"what better way to start than by going to top of the rock?" siwoo says.

wow.

"aw yess!" jihye says.

that's where everyone goes to the roof to look across the city, with the view of the empire state building and statue of liberty in the distance. or the other side, you can see out over central park. this will be amazing.

"the elevator is so cool!" jihye starts telling me, which i find funny as we're going for the view, not the elevator.

she causes a wave of laughter among the car. i take this opportunity to see if yeonjun was laughing too. or just smiling. no. he's just looking so bored and miserable. what's his problem? is he really just going to go back to being horrid. is he going to go back to being bitter and rude to me? i'm just so fed up with him at this point, but i have to put on a happy face for his family. i'm so grateful for them for inviting me into their home and giving me this opportunity, so i never want to seem moody or ungrateful. because i'm not. this is such an amazing experience to have. so i'm not going to let some stupid guy ruin it for me.

when we arrive, the entrance is the most huge hall with gold-toned lights and art. it's incredible. we go into a room where we're told to take off our bags so they can go through security. then we're in this indoor shopping centre sort of area. when the time on our tickets appears on the screen we're allowed to enter a separate room to go up to the roof. while we're in the shopping centre with lots of small high-end shops, sehun buys us all these fancy chocolate bars which we're very grateful for as we wait.
