As the two slept almost peacefully through the night, the falling snow began to get calmer and the fog around had vanished. The next morning, she awoke, hungry but not knowing what to do. She didn't want to wake him up either since she feels he still needed to rest. So, she laid in bed looking at the ceiling.
She remembered her phone was on her, she had turned it off a while back to save the little battery she had left. She moved strands of her brown hair out of her face and sat up to get comfortable. When going to grab her phone from her pocket, he had moved in his sleep and laid his head right next to her.
She looked at him for a second and decided to leave him be. She turned on her phone and waited for it to boot up, it took almost an entire minute. She looked at her lock screen, a picture of her partner and her seemed to bring back a few memories. She then shook her head and took a deep breath. "I'll let her deal with that...it's her decision. " she told herself as she moved past the lock screen. She gave a slight smile as she looked at her home screen, a picture of a black cat with green eyes was behind a plethora of apps.
She had no signal and less than ten percent battery, so she decided to turn it off again. As she sighed and dropped the phone on her lap, he opened his eyes. She looked down at him again "Mornin', you sleep well?" she said as he sat up slowly. He rubbed his face, still kind of sleepy. "Ah, apart from...the thing...kinda." he replied, his voice a bit different. This caught her off guard, and she moved her head back a bit. "Wow, your morning voice is.. interesting." she stopped.
"Anyway, we should find the place of food here." she suggested. "You mean the kitchen?" he responded, looking directly at her as he raised an eyebrow. "Yes, that. I don't know enough about castles, I thought maybe it had some sort of fancy name." She looked away from him. "Oh pardon me madame, I'm sorry for using such foul language. Let us find the cookery at once Miss." he spoke out jokingly, giving her a smug look.
She looked directly at him with a straight face."I see you're feeling better."
"Let's just go." she said, standing up from bed.
He grabbed his phone from his pocket, it was almost out of battery as well. He spaced out for a second while she was already at the door.
"You good?" she asked as he stared into nothing.
He snapped out of it a second later and shook his head. "Sorry, I was thinking of something."
"Must have been one hell of a thought." she responded.
He stood up from the bed, he seemed to have grabbed his phone with a bit of force. "Hey, give me your phone real quick." he said, walking towards her.
"Why?" she questioned, very unsure as to why he'd need her phone.
The two locked eyes, he looked away almost immediately. "Listen, I don't want to walk all the way back for that one charger we had found." he said, looking to the side.
"You are not gonna use that power on my phone." she said, grabbing her phone closer to her.
"Look, I already did it with mine and I didn't fry it." he responded, handing her his phone.
She looked at it, suspicious. She saw that it was almost completely charged. She looked back at him and grabbed his phone.
She walked out through the door "Let's get food first."
"Ayo, you weren't supposed to actually take it." he said, going after her.
She walked down the hall from the day before. He walked a few feet behind her looking around at the walls until he heard something off. He accidentally bumped into her, she had stopped moving.
She looked back at him, a finger over her lips, signaling him to stay quiet. He gave her a thumbs up as the two stood still, listening. He closed his eyes and grabbed her shoulder to know if she moved. The two of them heard some footsteps from far. He opened his eyes and pulled her into a room.
A light appeared in his hand, it took the form of an axe "Think you can fight?"
She lifted her hand and created a translucent broadsword. "Well, at least I can let out my anger on something."
