It had been a rough couple of days for the McCall twins. Rebecca was barely talking to Scott and since Isaac had gone missing and Lydia was still a little too much, Rebecca had turned to Erica Reyes for friendship, which the blonde had happily obliged to. The blonde was still incredibly insecure, but with the McCall girl by her side, she felt a little better, especially since Rebecca was well-liked throughout the school. Now the two girls were watching Scott and Allison climb the rockwall, while Stiles stood beside Rebecca, acting as though Erica wasn't even there.
"So, I'll climb with you?" Stiles questioned, turning to Rebecca.
"Sorry, Stiles, I've already partnered up with Erica. Maybe ask Lyds?"
"Yeah, no thank you. It feels crappy enough being rejected by Scott and then you, let alone being rejected by the queen B herself as well." Stiles sighed, walking away from the two as Scott fell from the rock wall, causing the class to erupt with laughter.
"Okay, Erica, I think that's our cue. You ready? I'm feeling like a race!" Rebecca grinned, psyching herself up as the two girls headed over to the bottom of the wall.
"Oh, you're so on, McCall!" Erica laughed back, pulling what she believed to be a 'tough' face, which only made Rebecca laugh back in response. Neither of them said another word as Rebecca sped up the wall, leaving Erica behind at the bottom.
"Erica, are you alright?" Rebecca called down to her and she began to glide back down from the wall, stopping next to the shaky blonde. "Hey, it's okay, let's just fall back down together, it'll be alright."
"No, no, I can do this."
"Erica, it's okay, just fall back, there is a mat here to catch you!" Coach Finstock called up to the girls. Waving them down.
"I know you can, how about we try again on the weekend?" Rebecca suggested, easing Erica down as a look of defeat and embarrassment crossed her face. By the time the girls reached the ground, the class was bursting with laughter, all aimed at the blonde at Rebecca McCall's side.
"You know what else is funny? The fact that you lot think you're so cool laughing at someone for being scared. Yeah, because I'm sure none of you have ever been afraid before!" Rebecca spat, sending venomous glares to her classmates who instantly shut up. "Coach, we're leaving."
"Rightio, McCall." Coach responded, barely listening to the feisty brunette. Rebecca led Erica out to the bathroom where she calmed her down. By now, Erica was pulling at her frizzy hair and letting tears stream down her face, pacing frantically.
"Hey, Erica, calm down. It's alright, here, stop for a second and lets just splash your face with water a little." Rebecca soothed, gripping Erica's shoulders and forcing her to stop. Then she turned the tap on and lightly splashed Erica with cool water until her breathing returned to normal. Now, the bell had already gone and Erica suddenly felt brave.
"I'm gonna do it."
"That's great, this weekend?"
"No, now."
"Erica, I'm not so sure that's safe. They would have already packed up the harnesses."
"Thanks for your concern, honestly, but I'm gonna do it right now, with or without you." Erica stated, storming out of the bathroom. What the hell, Rebecca thought, if it was gonna cheer her friend up, could it really be so bad? Either way, Rebecca was definitely not letting Erica do it on her own and after dramatically sighing, the brunette chased her friend into the gym.
"And you're sure you want to do this? Without the safety gear?"
"I can do it."
"I never said you couldn't, but I don't want you to get hurt."
