"No, what I don't understand is how you can work with them and involve me in a plan I didn't even know about! When were you going to tell me about it, huh? When the plan was completed, or was I gonna find out when you were already gone?" She lashed out, silent, inconsistent voices still running through the back of her already clouded mind as their two bodies quietly stood on the edge of the bridge, beside a cluttered memorial.
"So she told you about it." Vander mumbled under his breath, sighing right after with a hand on his temple.
"Would it have been better if she hid it? We had a talk and she isn't gonna show up in the Undercity anymore, so forget about your plan. This isn't where she's supposed to be. I don't want to work with any of them. We were here, we saw what they did. I grew up knowing that I'm less than them, and that my place is down there." She turned to the noticeably larger man, making eye contact, all her features being highlighted by close candle lights.
"I want Powder to have more than that, and I'm willing to fight for it." She soon continued, her voice shaky now. They kept eye contact until the man finally choose to speak again.
"I was angry, just like you. You know where that brought us, right? I know that you want to hurt the topsiders for what they've done to us, but everything has a price. Who are you willing to lose? Mylo? Claggor? Powder? (Y/N) even, because I know that you two didn't break contact over this. Are you willing to lose all of them?" Vander shifted from his place near the girl to comfort her as he saw her expression changing for the worse. She soon rested her head on his shoulder with a loud sigh incoming.
"What are we gonna do? The enforcers will come back." Her lips turned into a frown, a few pieces of hair escaping the hood she had on, furthermore blocking her view of the bridge and the night sky.
"I'll figure it out."
. . .
A silent knock was heard on one of the windows of the (L/N) family's mansion, a window which belonged to (Y/N)'s room. Slowly but surely, the girl made her way to the window, where all that could be seen was Violet, a very pleasant surprise that made her eyes gleam with joy. The window opened in mere seconds and the pink-haired girl was forced into a warm embrace she couldn't help but accept.
"Vi?" Confusion quickly took over her mind though as the excitement washed off. Her riddled face was met with a confident smirk though, as the other girl, slightly dirty, made a tour around the room.
"Nice house you have, prettier than what Little Man described it as." Her fingers softly went over a cluttered bookshelf, reading a few titles off of it, feasting her eyes on one book she found especially entertaining. It was a book about engineering and mechanics, something that she thought could greatly help Powder with her inventions at home. She threw herself on the bed which laid not too far from the shelves, still not taking her eyes away from the book, trying to memorize as much helpful stuff as she could from it.
"So, what's the purpose of your visit? I know you wouldn't risk coming here without a goal, would you?" The (h/c)-haired girl sat on the edge of her bed along with her so-called friend. She soon laid on it as well, reading from the book as fast as she could, as the pair of eyes belonging to the pink-haired girl read fast, and only what she deemed important.
"I just wanted to see you. Is that not enough of a motive?" Vi slowly turned the page as her ashy eyes glanced at the girl for mere seconds before planting her face again in the book.
"No, I don't think so. Little Man must have told you that my house is guarded. How did you even climb up here without anyone seeing you?" (Y/N) sighed in disbelief as she played with the pendant she received as a gift from the said girl some time ago.
"Well, let's just say that your guards are slacking off."
Her answers and behavior didn't sit quite right with (Y/N) though so she grabbed the book right from the girl's hands as she was off guard.
"Is there something wrong in the Undercity, Vi? Is that why you came all the way here to see me?" The girl frowned as they finally got face to face. The ashy eyes she lovingly glared at had a somewhat pained expression, proving her point right.
"You can say that. I had a talk with Vander today, we're figuring out what to do. The enforcers will come back down there. You won't be hearing from me for a while, but don't worry too much about it. Just don't step into the Undercity, okay? I'll come back when everything has been taken care of." She got up from the bed and headed to the still-open window she came from.
"Wait, Vi, before you go... What exactly are we?"
"Oh, about that. Well, you decide. Let's just talk about it next time we see each other, okay? When the water is clearer and the sky bright again." She gave (Y/N) a warm, yet still pained smile, not knowing when the next time they'll see each other will be exactly. The girl smiled back and handed her the book she read earlier just when she was about to leave.
The two of them parted ways with a quick nod.
