Fresh, blue morning skies and prevalent sun rays emerging from the chubby clouds marked a brand new day in the thriving City of Progress, Piltover. This day was more than significant for those living and visiting the said city for it was one to celebrate wildly, Progress Day.
"Cait! Happy Progress Day!" A familiar figure walked over to the blue-haired girl with a vivid smile plastered on her face. Her (h/c)-colored hair was hard to miss, but what surprised her friend even more was the fact that she didn't have her usual uniform on today.
"Happy Progress Day, (Y/N). You really dressed up for the occasion, huh?" Caitlyn smirked, checking her outfit from head to toe briefly before the girl pulled her into a warm, comforting hug she couldn't refuse for the world.
"Why're you looking at me with those eyes? Is it weird seeing me in other outfits than the enforcer uniform these days? I got a few days off from the higher-ups so you might want to get used to this." She grinned and spun around once for Caitlyn to get the full view of the new fancy dress she so loved.
"Might as well. Have you heard that Jayce is going to give the big speech tonight? Isn't that gonna be like a breath of fresh air for you?" The girl mocked, to which a pair of (e/c) eyes harshly glanced at her in denial.
"I would much rather breathe the Undercity's air than be at that speech tonight, but I do have to attend the fundraiser and the speech with my family, such a bummer, really. I can stay here with you while you're on your shift today though, and we can go take a stroll around the city after the Progress Day discourse if you wish." (Y/N) proposed as she had taken a glance inside the Kiramman's tent to exchange a quick greeting with her friend's mother.
"Have a go at it, as long as it won't bore you too much. I know you're driven more towards the Undercity, but maybe this is the gateway for you to finally work in Piltover." Caitlyn partially joked, yet because of the fragile nature of the subject, (Y/N) had taken it quite seriously, slightly causing the dark blue-haired girl to panic.
"Cait, we've talked about this. My roots are there, and I'll work for the Police Department as long as I can have at least the slightest contact with the Undercity. I have my interests to be tied to it, I told you. Even though it's not my home, it is a place close to my heart. I've met some great people there, and I want to furthermore honor their words. I'll tell you about them one day if I get the chance." Her soft lips curled into a nice smile as she reminisced the great time she had while she was living at the Last Drop with Mylo, Claggor, Powder, Vander, and most importantly, Vi. Her eyes glanced at the violet pendant she still had as a gift from the pink-haired girl. Just yesterday she had placed flowers in the back of the Last Drop as she did monthly from when Vi totally vanished from her life and was hereby pronounced dead by many.
"Sorry. How about you just go and enjoy Progress Day then? You're a total workaholic, I can't even imagine how you accepted the days off. Take a break, (Y/N). It's for your own good. Let's just meet here after my shift." Caitlyn pushed the girl away and returned to her previous place as (Y/N) sighed and waved as she departed from the girl with yet another warm smile. The blue-haired girl's eyes trailed after her until she was out of sight, creating a totally comforting moment when her friend glanced back at her.
. . .
"How are you feeling, Cait? Has your movement improved? Your parents told me about your injuries." A familiar face entered the girl's room after a brief knock on the large door. Her face lit up when she saw her friend with a nice bouquet of soft-looking flowers in her hands.
"Jayce was here seconds ago and I told him about this. I've had a break in the case, hear me out. Maybe Marcus will listen if you're onto it with me." She led the girl to a big map scattered with photos and red thread in the middle of the room after she carefully placed the flowers brought to her in the pile she had as gifts from various friends and acquaintances.
