Inesa POV

I utter a little chuckle over thinking it was actually possible make it in time. Of course I couldn't. Duh.

As the train had just departed, I walk slowly to the platform. All the rush just moments prior just seems to dissapate, giving my heart the chance to start beating normally again.

Once standing at the edge to the platform, and glancing down at the tracks, I find myself getting lost in my own thoughts.

In a couple weeks, my school will be hosting our annual winter festival, and I will be helping out with some of the loudspeaker announcements, as well as being a commentator for various events.

With a smirk on my face my inner thoughts continue. It's not like I volunteered for said jobs, being "Little Miss Perfect" and "The Princess of Hon-High", I got nominated and unanimously voted to be one of our school's primary figureheads. Not like I mind that attention, I am perfect after all. It's only natural for all the others to look up to me.

Enough of that though. Backing a few steps away from the platform, I wrap my scarf up as much as I possibly can, making myself hold the ends between my shoulders and neck.

My breathing has entirely slowed down and my heart beat has finally reached its resting pace. I begin to freeze even more, so I back up even more putting my back towards the station building's brick wall, in order to hide from the wind gusts pulling through.

Before I would not have been able to keep a sprint as long as I just did, in fact, my body recently has been changing. "Awakening" as my mom calls it.

For succubi, from when we are born and all the way up until a good bit into our teenage years, we are just like normal humans in most aspects. Normal with the exception for our unnatural looking hair color, and an obsession with that very color. But around when we hit year 2-3 in highschool, some changes begin to happen, we gain hightened senses, smell, hearing, eyesight and increased touch sensation. We also gain a more efficient bloodflow thoughout our bodies, which in turn adds to our stamina. But not increased strength. Strength we still need to build on our own through training, but we improve quickly with training.

Aside from the benefits of "awakening" there is one major drawback. The price for becoming enhanced, is we start using up our life, which we then need to refill by outside means. In order to fufill my body's natural need for more life energy, an instinct to find prey is developed, together with the desire to devour, devour.

Lastly, once a prey has been located, my eyes will turn the shapes of hearts and once the prey is secured, I will evolve into my "final form" with wings, horns, tail and all that. After that I will be able to both transform and detransform at will.

for the last few weeks I have noticed the first stage of my developement being under way, I have been more awake at night, due to an increased bloodflow and oxygen, and I have grown a fondness for the dark since it is more comfortable with my new and improved night vision which I have not yet learned to control.

But as of now I have not yet gotten past the first stage of my developement, so I have not yet felt the urge to hunt for prey, thankfully. I hope that the second stage will take its time, but considering what my mom taught me, it should be right around the corner.

Ironically it was quite litterally right around the corner.

I pick up the sound of footsteps coming from the same direction I had myself only minutes before, and once they get loud enough, a young boy strides into view.

The boy was about a head taller than me and had dark brown hair, a bit on the long side, and his face was turned away. He was clothed properly with a pair of black leather shoes and black suit trousers. He also wore a warm-looking blue winter jacket which he was huddling in with his hand in the pockets. Wrapped around his neck was a scarf.

Just looking at him reminded me of how freezing I was.

I stand watching him for a little while as he keeps looking down at his watch, as if time couldn't go fast enough.

My eyes go wide and I stay my own breathing as I realize I can hear his heartbeat. Thats.. Wow.. My newly discovered abilities are pretty amazing if I may say so myself. We both stand at the station for a good twenty minutes, him somehow still unaware of my presence.

I try seeing if I am able to hear anything else and am unable to descide wether or not I can hear his blood wooshing around his veins, or if thats just my imagination. It is difficult to distinguish what would be his arteries, and the wind pulling through.

The boy checks his watch again and mutters something under his breath. I catch "Heh, I wish I could get a real friend."

That's kind of sad.

The longer we stand, the more the cold becomes unbearable, thinking the boy in front of me looks well-off, and friendly enough, I choose to step forward after pulling down my hood.

"Hey." I say in an attempt to get his attention.

He suddenly spins around to fix his suprised gaze on me.

"Hey, do you have a heat pack or something I could borrow? Just until the next train comes." I ask in the hopes of at least relieving my frozen fingers.

He stops in place for a second and looks down at his feet. My hopes drop, either he doesn't have one or does not want to lend me anything. Understandable however, it's not really wise to trust a stanger. Especially a stranger looking so suspicious as I imagine I do, with a hood drawn way down.

Suddenly he looks back up at me while unzipping his coat.

Huh? I think confused.

Then the boy slips it off completely and holds out his arm straight, and says; "Here."

Getting a slight studder from both the cold and suprise, but also a little embaressment, I ask to confirm what I think is happening. "A.. Are you sure?.. You're gonna freeze."

Is he really gonna offer me his coat? If I hadn't kept my composure, my chin would have dropped.

He winks; "What kind of guy would I be if I let pretty girl like yourself freeze while I was all nice and toasty?"

I feel my cheeks start to warm up despite the cold, and in my vision I seem to be looking down a tunnel, where his heart is in the center. All I can hear, is his steady, rythmic heartbeat like a drum throbbing in my ear.

I reach for the coat offered to me.

"O.. Okay.. Th.. Thanks.."

He's mine.

I want him.

Mine.
