We walked to the living room and sat on the couch together, facing the TV. We chose some random movie and settled on watching it.
While watching the film, I couldn't stop myself from looking at her every now and then. She seemed really interested in the story that was playing on the screen and would occasionally ask me questions and laugh when the scenes got more ridiculous.
Every time I noticed her reactions I just smiled fondly to myself, silently loving how adorable she was. I wanted to see her like this every day and be the cause of her joy forever.
After an hour and a half of watching the movie, I started feeling a bit tired and sleepy but a few minutes later I felt her lean against me and rest her head on my shoulder, making me blush and freeze for a split second. As soon as I got over my shock and realized that she was sleeping peacefully on my shoulder, I rested my cheek on top of her head.
She smelled wonderful and I didn't care how much I wanted to pull her closer to me right there. It felt comfortable and right. This is what friends do, isn't it? When the credits started rolling in the background and the ending music began playing, I shifted a little and turned to look at her. She was still sound asleep with a soft smile on her lips. I thought for a moment, wondering if I should wake her. But I changed my mind. She looked so content lying peacefully next to me, with no worries or responsibilities in her life.
I decided to give her a couple more minutes to sleep because seeing her so calm and relaxed made me even more sleepy. So, I laid my head back on hers and closed my eyes. And as soon as I did so, I fell fast asleep.
A loud ringing noise woke me up early the next morning. I tried moving around a bit but couldn't escape the annoying sound. Eventually, I ended up falling off the sofa and landing on the floor with a thud.
I groaned in pain for a minute before realizing where I was and opened my eyes. My eyes widened slightly when I realized that I was laying in the middle of the living room floor surrounded by blankets and pillows. I lifted my arm to touch my forehead and winced in pain. I then tried stretching and got to my feet slowly. I stumbled a little bit before finding my balance. When I managed to regain my full posture, I slowly looked around me. Everything was silent except for the constant ringing sound coming from my phone. I looked around once again and finally found the source of the annoying noise. I picked up my phone and turned off my 8 am morning alarm. It went silent and I let out a sigh.
Then, I noticed a small note laying underneath the phone and unfolded it. It read:
- "Grace, sorry that I have to leave you while you're asleep. I need to take care of some business, I will come to you this evening to help you with flowers. Here's my phone number, call me if anything changes."
I immediately took my phone and saved her number. She was so considerate. I was thankful and couldn't wait to see her again. I quickly sent her a message,
- "Hey, this is Grace, I'm awake now, thanks for leaving me your number, I probably would have been way too shy to ask you for it in person. Hope you had fun yesterday!"
Her response came almost instantly.
- "See you soon, Grace."
I blushed a bit and then quickly put my phone into my pocket before heading to the bathroom to freshen up. After my shower, I combed my hair and brushed my teeth, and slipped into a fresh pair of clothes before walking to the kitchen. I put the kettle on for tea while rummaging through the refrigerator for leftovers. I decided to make waffles and scrambled eggs which sounded good to me right now. I was just finishing up when I heard a knock on the door. I quickly wiped my hands off and headed towards the door.
