- "Look, miss! I'm begging you, don't report him to the police, my family will deal with him. He's our future... He's my son-in-law. So I don't want him to have any problems with the cops."

Mr. Saogi pleaded desperately and looked at me hopefully. I felt myself getting angrier and angrier as the seconds passed by. Why the fuck he would protect him after what he just saw? What kind of father is he? Son-in-law? What bullshit! I'm done with it! I am so fed up with this whole situation.

- "Let me ask you something: What if I wanted to report him to the authorities? I can, and he'll be charged for a battery. And he deserves it. People like him need to be locked up! He makes Amari's life a total fucking hell and you still want to protect him! You said it yourself that she's been trying to tell you how he really acts and you didn't even believe her! That's insane!"

I yelled furiously at him with tears streaming down my face. I couldn't keep my emotions in check anymore. All of the pent-up frustration and rage were now boiling inside of me. I saw Mr. Saogi open his mouth to speak, but before he could utter one word, Alain interrupted him.

- "Don't listen to her, sir. She's being crazy! She provoked me! Please! You must believe me! It wasn't my intention to hurt her. I promise. Believe me, I am truly sorry!"

Alain pleaded, stepping toward him, grabbing his arm urgently. Mr. Saogi let out a sigh, looking at him sympathetically. I clenched my jaw and looked at them with a furious expression.

- "Listening here, young lady! How do you know my daughter?! What is going on in our family has nothing to do with you!"

The man shouted at me, his voice trembling with fury. His eyes blazed fiercely at me, full of contempt. It was like a bomb exploded inside of me, shattering everything that was left intact inside of me and destroying every single part of my fragile, delicate self. Tears began rolling down my cheeks, and I bit my lip to keep myself from crying in front of them. What the hell is wrong with these people?

- "No, listen! Both of you! Yes, you are right, your family business has nothing to do with me. But Amari does. I know how much she struggles because of this asshole! She stayed at my place for the past few days just because she had nowhere to go! Can't you see, she's suffering?"

I cried bitterly, wiping away my tears angrily. The older man shook his head slowly, lowering his gaze again. Alain remained quiet, standing by his side.

- "Amari is the best and most precious person I have ever encountered in my whole lifetime. And this bastard hurts her more and more day by day. Please, just listen to her and let her live her life as she wants to."

I tried to calm myself down but my words wouldn't stop flowing, despite how hard I tried. The man seemed to consider my words carefully. Finally, he lowered his brows in anger and looked at Alain.

He gave him a stern look but then turned back to me with a defeated look in his eyes.

- "Please don't report this. You don't have to do that, alright? Just please don't."

He muttered reluctantly, looking very uncomfortable. I nodded hesitantly.

- "Okay. I won't report it. But I'm not promising that I won't report if he touches me or Amari once again. If you think I'll let him walk free just like that, you're sadly mistaken. He's gonna pay for what he did to her."

I declared boldly, clenching my fist and narrowing my eyes in determination. Mr. Saogi sighed deeply. He looked troubled and conflicted, unsure of what to do. Finally, he spoke again.

- "We'll talk about this later. Come on, let's go home, Alain."

He said, turning around and walking away quickly. Alain looked at me and whispered "bitch" angrily before following him. I closed my eyes and inhaled sharply, trying to calm myself down. Everything happened too fast.
