"Jamie," I say in a low voice. "Please move out the way."
"Look, I'm sorry, okay? I was just messing around, you know that."
"Please move," I say again.
"Look at me. I'm just joking-"
My fist flies forward and connects with his nose before I can com...
I splash cold water on my face to disguise the tears that had started to form in my eyes.
"Y/n, darling? Are you alright?"
"You can come in Martin," I call through the door, "It's unlocked."
There's a small creak as the door's pushed open and he pops his head in.
"How are you feeling?" he asks with sympathy in his voice.
I sigh, "I'm alright, I guess. I just thought it might be a bit easier, you know? Another year has gone by but I still feel as shitty as the day I lost him."
He comes in to give me a hug, which I gratefully accept.
"It's alright, y/n. We can get through it together." He rubs a soothing hand on my back.
There's a knock at the door and Jamie sticks his head in.
"I'm not interrupting, am I?" He looks at the two of us hugging and I pull away from Martin, sort of wishing that Jamie hadn't seen it.
"Mind if I have a word y/n?" He asks.
"Sure. I'm okay now Martin, thank you."
"Wait for me after and we'll go for a drink?"
I give him a weak smile and he turns to go. There's a look that passes between Martin and Jamie, but I'm not sure what it's about.
"Everything alright? Did you need something?"
(Jamie's POV)
I look at her as she stands at the sink, leaning onto the side of it for support.
"Uh, yes," I start. "I actually just wanted to check on you. I saw you run off after the filming stopped and you seemed upset."
She touches something under her shirt around her neck, I'm guessing a necklace, and I don't think she realises she does it.
"I'm fine, really. It's just been a long day."
She gives me something that I think is meant to be a smile, but it looks more like a grimace.
"Well why don't you come out with me tonight?" I give her my signature cheeky smile. "I'm sure I can take your mind off.... uh..... Whatever's bothering you?"
She shoots a suspicious look at me before saying, "You literally just heard me say I'd go for a drink with Martin."
"Yeah but I'm sure you've done that loads before. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity," I wink at her.
"Yeah I'm good thanks. Maybe you should ask Lily, I'm sure she'd love to go out with you," she mutters the last part but I catch it anyway and my smile grows wider.
"My my, y/n. Is someone jealous? You know, if you fancied me, you only had to say something."
It's a struggle to hold in my laugh.
(Y/n's POV)
I know he's just trying to make me feel better, but it's really difficult to hold in my anger. Everything seems to turn into a negative emotion today.
So I pick up my bag from the floor and brush past him, desperate to leave the room.
"Hey! Y/n wait! You know I'm only joking."
He runs to the door and blocks my path.
"Jamie," I say in a low voice. "Please move out the way."
"Look, I'm sorry, okay? I was just messing around, you know that."
"Please move," I say again.
"Look at me. I'm just joking-"
My fist flies forward and connects with his nose before I can comprehend it happening.
"Ow! Fuck, y/n!"
He covers his nose with his hand as the blood starts to pour, and I take my chance to run out of the bathroom.
Thankfully, no-one besides Martin seems to notice my rush from the room.
"Are you alright?" He looks at me, alarmed.
My hands are shaking.
"I can't be here," I say, slightly breathless. "I need to leave."
"Go," he grabs my jacket and pushes it gently into my arms. "I'll cover for you, you go do what you need to do."
I wrap my arms around him quickly before hurrying out the main door.
It only takes me 10 minutes to drive to where I need to be, but it feels like 10 minutes too many.
As soon as I arrive, I run to the changing room and throw on my kit.
