CHAPTER 4: The Engagement Party

In the throne room of the palace where the royal family are seated in, a very heated argument is taking place but that's after the guests have departed to their various destinations.

"Father this is unacceptable, I have worked to hard for my throne to be given away like this" Edena stated angrily.

"And who are you to oppose me,you are a disgrace who could not spin the orb so you deserve no throne" said the King.

"No I am Princess Edena ,the first born and heir to the throne"

She just kept on repeating the same phrase but deep down she knew no one saw her that way again.

As the exchange of words took place between her daughter and husband ,the queen sat their with a sad expression,she knew how her husband treated her first daughter because she was different. The king always preferred Orla to his first born and there by treated Edena with less care.

Even when she was born the King accused his wife of bearing him a bastard child but the doctors even confirmed that it was his .

The Queen could never say anything because her husband barely listened to her. His words were final,and whoever opposed was dealt with accordingly.

So instead the queen spent her time attending to her daughters and the villages affairs. The queen did love her daughters equally but could never protect Edena from her father's word , which made it seem as if the queen favoured Orla instead.

"Enough I can't take your babbling anymore". "Anyway I have a lot on my plate seeing that your sisters engagement is coming up soon ".

" Engagement party ? I don't remember having a fiancee" Orla said confused.

"Dear you have been engaged with first young master Micheal,he is the duke's son and our families are great friends ".

"So it will be a wonderful match" said the Queen.

"Nooo ! "The princesses yelled.

"Mom,Dad pls you can't do this to me ,you all know that I've been in loved with Master Micheal since we were kids"said Edena .

"You have to accept it, preparations have already been put in place besides young master Micheal is a good and respected fellow and my Orla deserves the best".

Edena felt tears threatening to fall down from her eyes ,so in order not to appear weak she just stormed out of the room to clear her head.

Two weeks later
In the closed corners of Edena's enormous bedroom,she could hear the chattering of horses which meant the guests have started arriving.

For the past weeks she did not leave her room except to get some fresh air and her meals were always delivered to her in her room.

The halls have been swarming with maids and servants making sure everything was put to perfection for this day , knowing that everybody who was everybody will be in attendance.

Orlas dressing room
Orla was busy getting her herself all dolled up ,she was being attended to by 7 maids each having their various duties of doing her hair,makeup ,dress fittings and the likes.

She was beyond nervous and just prayed her sister will agree to attend. Their bond had wavered drastically during this period but she hoped that things could go back to the way they were.

"Look at how beautiful you are my princess" a maid squealed happily.

"Why yes our princess is just simply gorgeous like a first winters snow flake" another maid said.

Princess Orla blushed and allowed herself to be excorted towards the ballroom where everyone was waiting for her including her soon to be husband.

I am sooo excited I finished this chapter ,Phew! .Also what is the most unexpected thing that has ever happened to you.
