y/n watched Joyce try and explain what she saw to Hopper, sitting on the couch with a blanket wrapped around her shoulders. Tears stained her cheeks as she stared straight ahead of her, tuning everything out.

Eventually she fell asleep, Jonathan carrying her to his bed and tucking her in. She could hear his cries in her sleep and all she wanted was for everything to go back to a month ago.

When she was happy.

y/n stared through the glass, Jonathan's hand on her shoulder. The man on the other side stood in full scrubs, a blue blanket laying over the body in front of him. He slowly pulled away the blanket, revealing Will.

Jonathan began to cough, running down the hall. y/n stared at Will's face, frowning. A stray tear slipped from her eye looking at the pale boy, he looked nothing like the boy she remembered. "I can't." She whispered, walking off down the hall and taking a seat in the lobby.

She pulled her knees to her chest, crying quietly as Jonathan and Hopper spoke to each other in hushed tones. When y/n had gotten home last night the house was torn apart, christmas lights hanging everywhere and letters painted on the wall.

None of it made sense.

"Mam! I need you to stop!"

Joyce burst through the door, turning to the man chasing her. "I don't know what you think that thing is in there but that is not my son!" Jonathan and Hopper stood, "Mom-"

"No!" Joyce grabbed y/n's hand, pulling the girl out of her seat and towards the exit. She sat her in the back of the car, slamming the door shut, making y/n flinch. Jonathan followed the woman out a moment later, Joyce walking away down the street.

The boy jumped into the driver's seat, speeding after his mother. "Mom!" He rolled the window down, Joyce shaking her head. "I need to think! Just go home!" He pulled over, exiting the car and running after the woman.

y/n watched the two fight for a moment before closing her eyes, a black void appearing around her, water at her feet. "Will?" She called out into the darkness, nobody responding. "Will please respond, things are really hard..."

"I'm here..."

A voice echoed around her and it sounded scared. "I'm alive." He whispered, y/n nodding. "I'll find you." She opened her eyes, Jonathan now in the car staring at her worriedly. "y/n? Are you okay?"

She had almost forgotten the boy never knew about her powers.

"Jonathan." She called his name, the boy nodding. "Friend's don't lie." He nodded again, knowing how important the phrase was to the girl. "Well mom isn't acting like a friend right now." He turned, starting the car.

"Let's get you to school."

y/n turned to the gym door, Lucas, Dustin, and Mike standing there with Mr. Clark and Eleven. Eleven perked up at the sight of y/n, Dustin trying to turn around and leave. Lucas pushed him forward, the four making their way to their friend on the bleachers.

y/n stared at Eleven, the wig and the dress making the girl almost unrecognizable. She sighed, turning to Lucas. "Why?" The boy leaned over as the bell rang. "We'll explain later."

Everyone stood, making their way out of the gym. "Hey! Hey! You think this is funny!?" Mike called, the two boys turning, the same ones from yesterday. "What'd you say Wheeler?" Mike gulped, clenching his fist. "I saw you guys laughing! You think this is funny?"

The shorter boy frowned, "Weren't you listening? Grief shows itself in funny ways." y/n watched the situation unfold from beside Dustin, the boy holding her hand. "Plus what's there to be sad about anyway? He's in fairy land now with the other fairies, all happy and gay."

A couple kids laughed, the two boys turning to walk away. Mike stepped forward, pushing the boy, kids stopping to watch. The boy stood, growling. "You're dead Wheeler! Dead!" He charged forward, suddenly being frozen in his tracks.

y/n looked to Eleven, the girl's eyes zeroed in on the bully, blood running from her nose. Pee began to drench his pants, kids around him laughing.

"Dude Troy peed himself!"

A teacher began to walk over, kids running away from the scene, Dustin pulled y/n towards the door as he laughed.

Mike unlocked the door to the AV room, the kids piling inside. Eleven sat down at the desk, Mike turning on a channel of static. "Can you find him?" Eleven nodded, y/n still thoroughly confused. Dustin turned to her, explaining.

"Eleven was able to let us hear Will's voice on the super com but in order to find him she needs a stronger signal."

"So," The girl looked up with wide eyes. "Will is alive." Lucas and Dustin eagerly nodded, turning to watch Eleven, blood dripping from her nose.

The light then went out, y/n moving to be closer to Dustin. "She's finding him!" A sound began to play on the radio, Will's voice coming through. "Mom! Jonathan! y/n!" y/n froze at the mention of her name, running to the mic.

"Will! Will!" She yelled into the mic, Will continuing to call for his mother. "It's like home b-but it's so dark! It's so dark!" He continued calling for help before the line went quiet, the lights flickering on. The radio sparked, catching flame.

Lucas quickly pulled y/n away from it, Dustin grabbing the fire extinguisher. He put out the flame, Mike shaking Eleven. "Help me get her up!" Lucas grabbed the girl's arm, Mike helping lift her. "Come on!"

They set her on a rolling table, quickly running out the room, y/n standing still in shock. "W-Will..." Dustin grabbed her hand, pulling her out the room and down the hall after the others.

"Let's go!"
