"I can't believe she didn't come back!"

Mike paced back and forth, y/n watching him from the couch. "She's gotta be close." Dustin assured, watching his friend stress. "I shouldn't have yelled at her! I never should've done that!"

"Mike, this isn't your fault." The boy nodded, "Yeah it's Lucas'." Dustin shook his head, "It's not his fault either." Mike looked up, astonished. "You're saying he wasn't way outta line?!"

"My..." The two boys paused their arguing, looking to the girl on the couch. "My...fault." She looked down, glancing up at them briefly. "Sorry." Dustin shook his head, "You just wanted us to be safe-"

y/n shook her head, "But friends don't lie."

Mike mumbled something, turning back to Dustin. "Bottom line is you pushed first and you know the rule- '' Mike shook his head, "No way! I'm not shaking his hand!" Dustin grabbed his jacket, "It's rule of law, follow or be banned."

He grabbed y/n's hand, pulling her up the steps. Mike rolled his eyes, "Where are you guys going?" He questioned, Dustin looking over his shoulder.

"To go get Lucas."

"What do you want?"

Lucas stood at the door, glaring at the three. Mike held out his hand, sighing in annoyance. "I drew first blood so..." Lucas glanced at his hand before waving the group inside, the boy pacing in his living room.

y/n watched him, nervous. "Lucas-"

"Fine I'll shake. One condition, we forget Eleven."

"No!" Mike and y/n both shouted in unison, Lucas shooting y/n a glare. "Deals off then." y/n stood, frustrated. "Lucas my fault! Not safe!" She tried to stress her concern, the boy shaking his head. He stormed out the room, knocking into Mike on the way out. The three kids exchanged glances, Dustin letting out a sigh of defeat.

"Just great."

The three left their friend's house, trying to figure out what to do next. "This is weird without Lucas." y/n tuned out the boy's as she biked slightly behind Dustin and Mike. The boys came to a stop, y/n quickly stopping behind them.

She looked up to see a convenient store with police surrounding it, the windows shattered. Dustin squinted, "You don't think-" Mike nodded, y/n finishing his thought.

"Eleven."

"Eleven!"

y/n walked her bike, scanning the woods. "Stop." She stopped walking, Dustin and Mike slowing beside her. They followed her eyes, two figures coming up the hill.

"Hey there frog face."

"Shit!" Dustin quickly grabbed the girl's hand, dropping his bike. "Run! Mike Run!" They took off through the woods, the two boys chasing after them. They ran towards the quarry, y/n slowing Dusting down slightly.

Suddenly the other boy, the taller of the two, appeared in front of them, the boys slowing to a stop. Mike picked up a rock, Dustin pushing y/n back and picking up a stick. "Stay back! Don't come any closer!" He warned.

Dustin swung his stick, tripping, the bully caught him, holding a pocket knife to his neck. y/n turned to help, the bigger bully shoving her to the ground. " y/n! Dustin!" She felt her vision blur, a sharp pain ringing in her head.

The boy's voices distorted, y/n slowly sitting up. She rubbed her eyes, her vision becoming clear. She watched as Mike took steps towards the edge of the cliff, Dustin yelling for him to stop and calling for help.

She wanted desperately to save him, to do anything, but her mind was just too fuzzy, she couldn't think straight. The bully began to count down, reaching number 2 when Mike stepped over, y/n's eyes wide.

The girl scrambled to her feet, running towards the edge of the cliff. "Mike!" She looked down, the boy floating in the air, he began to float back up, landing on the ground. y/n smiled, turning to find Eleven.

The bully cried out in pain as she broke his arm, both scrambling to get away. Dustin cheered, yelling after them as y/n quickly rushed over to Eleven. She caught her before she could hit the ground, the girl crying into her arms.

Mike and Dustin rushed over, kneeling next to the two girls. "El what's wrong?" The girl looked up, blood running from her nose. "Mike, I'm sorry. The gate, I opened it. I'm the monster." The boy shook his head, "You're not a monster. You saved me."

He pulled Eleven into a hug, Dustin kneeling and joining in. He pulled y/n with him, the girl wrapping her arms around Eleven. She smiled to herself, whispering.

"Friends."
