y/n sat up in the back seat, her hair a mess as she yawned. After leaving Will's house they had gone back to Steve's to pick up something, she decided to take a nap and switch places with Dustin, laying down in the back.

"What time is it?" She mumbled, buckling her seatbelt once again. Dustin glanced back, smiling. "Late." y/n looked out the window, realizing it was dark. "Will- Have you heard from Will?" Dustin shook his head, handing the girl his supercom.

"Will are you there? Over."

Nobody responded, y/n growing worried. The boys began to talk again, the girl handing Dustin his com back. "So how big?" The curly haired boy held up his hands to scale. "First it was like that, now he's like this."

Steve rolled his eyes, "I swear to god man it's just some little lizard okay?" Dustin groaned, "It's not a lizard." y/n observed them, "Lizard..."

The two began to talk over each other. "How do you know it's not just-" Dustin interrupted the boy. "Oh how do I know if it's not?" Steve nodded, "How do you know-"

"Because his face opened up and he ate my cat."

y/n sat forward, whipping her head to Dustin. "Mews?" The boy hesitated before nodding, y/n looking down. She had been very fond of Mews, the cat took a liking to her. She sat back slowly, looking between the two boys.

"What ate Mews?"

She was afraid she already knew the answer. Dustin sucked in a deep breath, staring at the dashboard. "It was Dart. I found him that day Will was on the field. I-I just didn't want him to get hurt." He spoke, sighing.

y/n frowned, "So Dart's a demogorgon?"

Dustin nodded, the girl looking out the window. "Friends don't lie, you should have told us. But... He was your friend too. Sorry Dustin."

They rode the rest of the way in silence.

Steve popped the trunk, tossing Dustin his keys. The boy caught them swiftly, handing them to y/n, the girl slipping them into her pocket. Steve pulled out his bat, spinning it before slamming his trunk shut.

The group made their way around the side of the house, stopping at a pair of underground cellar doors. Steve shined his flashlight on them,, "I don't hear shit."

"He's in there." Dustin responded, y/n taking a step closer to the boy as an owl howled. Steve tapped the doors with his bat, nothing happening. He hit them again, the sound echoing but nothing happening.

He turned to Dustin, shining the flashlight in his face. "All right listen kid I swear if this is some sort of Halloween prank, you're dead. All right?" Dustin closed his eyes, frowning. "It's not a prank. Get it out of my face."

Steve nodded to the doors, "You got a key for this thing?"

A moment later the two doors were unlocked, the three peering down into the darkness below. Steve shined the light down the steps, the walkway empty. "He must be further down there." Dustin theorized, Steve giving him a look.

"We'll stay up here in case he tries to uh- escape."

Steve sighed, glancing at y/n before starting down the steps. y/n waited nervously at the top of the steps, picking at her hat. According to Dustin, Steve had fought a demogorgon before but only with the help of Nancy and Jonathan.
