"You shouldn't go anywhere near Karasu, and I suggest you listen to my warning." Sakuya warned me, "He was locked up for genocide of humans."
On it's own, my hand shot up to my gaping mouth.
Genocide?!
"As soon as I learned that he had escaped, I rushed to the prison." Sakuya explained, "Unfortunately, when I arrived, there was a trap waiting for me, and it resulted in this."
Sakuya soon gestured towards the wound on his wing.
Oh right! Why he was even here in the first place!
I soon held out the gauzes and salve and jerked my head to his wing. Sakuya nodded his head and I soon opened the jar of salve.
"I don't think Karasu could've escaped prison out on his own so that ambush was planned by someone else. However, my judgement was clouded, so I didn't even begin to consider or proceed cautiously for an attack." Sakuya soon slammed his hand onto the floor, "And now he's going to be out there killing humans once more!"
Sakuya soon pinched his nose and spoke in a whisper, "This is all my fault..."
His fault? How was this his fault? He couldn't have known he would escape. No one can. And even if he could somehow know, if Karasu ended up escaping anyway then that's also not his fault. He tried his best to stop him and some things just can't be helped. He's being too harsh on himself.
"Sakuya, it's not your fault. You did everything you could to try and stop him. We can't always stop something from happening, it's just not in our power. So all we can do right now is try to get him back into prison again." I commented.
I soon finished wrapping the last gauze and I tied it up into a knot. I tried to look at him with a reassuring smile but he still looked downhearted.
"Is there anything I can do?" I asked.
Sakuya soon scowled, "No. I won't allow anyone to become involved, let alone you. You're a human, Karasu will hurt you at any costs. And I'm not going let you get hurt."
"Nami!" Yuto yelled but soon met eyes with Sakuya, "Oh good, you're here too. I heard what happened."
Sakuya and Yuto soon shared a knowing glare to each other, like they had some sort of telepathic connection with each other.
"My dear brother, I want to help out." Yuto stated.
"You will not." Sakuya refused, "I won't include anyone else in this. I don't want anyone to get harmed, and I have to fight this battle on my own."
"I'll have you know that he's also—" Yuto soon got interrupted.
"This is between the Tengu. I'll take responsibility for it." Sakuya interjected.
Okay, I can respect doing your responsibilities. But that doesn't mean that you have to do it alone, not with an issue like this!
"Um... Wouldn't it... be better if...?" I spoke up.
"What?" Sakuya quirked a brow.
My confidence soon shrivelled down under his gaze
"Sorry... Forgive me. Forget I said anything."
"No, I want to hear." Sakuya replied.
His tone was firm and stern but... there was still a kind and gentle tint to it, like he wasn't completely angry.
"Shouldn't we help? It'll be easier to find Karasu and put him back to jail. Many hands make light work, you know?" I stated.
"She's right, brother." Yuto asserted, "And if this is your responsibility because he's a Tengu then he's also my responsibility because he's a Yokai."
