One Week Before The First Challenge
It's a cloudy late afternoon at Hogwarts. After talking Harry down all day because he's freaking out about Rita Skeeter's article, Y/N's completely done with other people for the day. Skeeter's first article on the tournament turned out to be one big life story on Harry. She mentions Krum and Delacour once in the last few sentences and didn't mention Cedric at all.
Now that it's the end of the day, Harry's hiding in his dorm room and Hermione's studying. Ron's with Dean and Seamus avoiding Harry by hanging out in the common room and everyone else is just scattered around the school.
Being completely done with talking and listening to other's drama for the day, Y/N walks down the hallways. She's completely devoid of sound and the outside world for a while. Her favorite part about this time is that everything feels silent. This time of the day is the closest thing she can get to having rain or a thunder storm. The sky outside is covered in clouds as it's been so for the majority of the past month. She does one of the most calming things she likes to do. Instead of thinking about things that go on in her life, she decides not to think, she decides to let go of all that's going on.
Her walking and not thinking is interrupted by the sight of something. Y/N finds herself walking by a room that she's visited a few times earlier this year. It's Professor Flitwick's choir room. The floors reflect the light through the creaked open door.
She makes the choice to walk into the room, just like she did before. This time, the curtains aren't on the windows. The light just flows through the room and many things in the hall reflect the shine. There are instruments, glass, even folders. The piano looks as amazing to Y/N as always. It may not be up to date with the muggle pianos, but it works just the same. There are some instruments in the hall that she's never even seen before, but others she has. She notices a violin, a cello, and a few guitars sitting on stands in the room. The guitars are all acoustic.
Y/N looks over to her right where the piano sits. Right by it is a shelf that she didn't notice before. The shelf is full of vinyl records of music as well as sheet music for piano playing. Some are wizards musicians and others are ones that she recognizes from the muggle world. It surprises her to see muggle sheet music, especially in her charms class professor's choir room. The muggle music doesn't have any records attached to it, unsurprisingly.
She looks through the stack of the vinyl records one by one. Flitwick sure does have interesting taste in music. There are some rock and roll vinyls, but the muggle sheet music is the complete opposite. They're all power ballads that push emotion and feeling.
Y/N finds a sheet of piano music for a song that she recognizes more than others. It's a song that she's learned to play on the piano before, a song that she loved to play on the piano.
She brings the sheet music over to the beautiful instrument and puts it on the music stand. When her fingers touch the keys of the piano, she listens to the continuous sound of it. Before she knows it, Y/N finds herself pressing the keys with each one of her fingers. And then she finds herself playing what's written on the sheet music.
