Three Hours Before The First Challenge

Y/N stands at the entrance of the Great Hall, staring at the Gryffindor table. There are too many people sitting there that she doesn't want to talk to. There's Fred, who she broke up with. There's Ron, who isn't talking to her. Her roommates, Parvati and Lavender who she's in no mood to speak with. Ginny and Neville are there, but they're sitting where there are the only three other spaces to sit. Which would mean she'd eventually be sitting with Harry and Hermione. There's no place there that she wants to be sitting because she'll be sitting in a place surrounded by her own drama and issues. Breakfast surrounded by a hurricane.

"Y/N!"

She looks over to the left side of the room where the Slytherin table is sitting. It's Theo calling her. She immediately feels a bit of pressure leaving her mind, like the ability to sit at a different table allows her to breathe in more oxygen.

Y/N makes her way over to the left side where Draco, Theo, Pansy, Blaise, Goyle, and Crabbe are sitting. When she arrives at the table, it's abundantly clear who they're cheering for. They've got signs and they're wearing their pins for Cedric. She's not surprised by the display, but it's disconcerting to know they're hoping for something bad to happen. And even more so that these are people she chooses to associate with. Is she not a good person? Why is it that she finds herself wanting to be around both people from the Gryffindor and Slytherin houses when it's always been shoved down her throat that one is good and one is bad? Why is it that she feels so drawn to both sides of a never ending war.

"So Sparks, want a pin?"

Y/N looks up from the table and towards Pansy. "No thank you."

Blaise gives an intrigued facial expression. "Really? Potter and the others haven't spoken to you in days and your still willing to cheer for him?"

She's taken off guard. "Just because we disagree on something doesn't mean I don't care about him."

"Speaking of which, what did cause the rift between you and your friends?"

"Speaking of which, what did cause the rift between you and your friends?"

"You guys."

Pansy looks confused and pushes further. "What do you mean us?"

Y/N looks at the glass of water as she speaks. "I never told anyone other than Hermione that I speak to you guys. So when Harry saw me run off after you guys after Draco was turned into a ferret, he took it as I agree with everything Draco said. That I agree with what all of you think."

Theo has an even more confused face. "Is that such a bad thing?"

"Gryffindor students and Slytherin students often butt heads on anything and everything. They never agree on world views. So in their opinion, yes."

"Then why are you here?" Goyle inquires

She looks up from the glass. "Because I don't think that the world is black and white. There is no good or evil, there's a grey area."
