January First
Y/N sits on her bed and looks down at the Legilimency book that she got at the library. She was unable to to ever get to the book earlier because she found herself way too busy. All the sewing and the music practice and the excitement had completely taken over Y/N's time. The other three girls aren't in the dorm room at the moment. She woke up late and none of them were there. Probably studying for next years O.W.L. exams and working on assignments.
She reads through the pages of the book in pure fascination. She never knew about this type of magic use and never considered it to be possible. Y/N suddenly reads something in the book that truly catches her mind.

People With A Predisposition
One thing that is abundantly clear to many is that some people are born with a predisposition for this ability. It's unclear why some people come to this ability more naturally than others. However it is clear that many of these people are likely to also have strong ability in other nonverbal and non-wand wielding magics. If a wizard or witch is able to perform types of magic without a wand or without speaking strongly, then they have a better chance of being able to perform the art of Legilimency.
The Signs
While some can use the ability from a young age, many people with a predisposition to Legilimency experience a "sign" later on that they do have it. The biggest signal to a witch or wizard that they have a predisposition is when they suddenly experience a "vision". The people who experience this were often in a moment where they made physical contact with a person that they hold close to them or have done so in the past. It's been said that a person would make the contact with another and then suddenly feel like they could feel the other's emotions to them. Not just feel them, but see them at the same time. Like a witch or wizard could see past moments of themself with the person and experienced all the emotions being felt by the other. The "sign" is also known to happen when the two people are in an emotional moment together. The moment may not always feel like the person is "seeing" things in a literal sense. Sometimes the person can't tell if the "vision" is literal or not, but they usually question it.

Y/N reads over those lines over and over, engraining it into her head. While she is in no mean a professional or expert in the area of the subject, she feels like the description of the "sign" might be what she experienced. So her decision in the moment is clear to her, Y/N needs to go speaks to Dumbledore. She doesn't know how much the other teachers would know about it, but she does know that Dumbledore is an extremely capable wizard.
There's the sound of the door opening and Y/N looks up to who's there. She's both glad and nervous to see Hermione.
The girl walks over to her pile of books and Y/N stands up. "Hermione.."
She seems to not know what to say. "Y/N.."
Y/N looks to the window and then back. "Can we speak?"
"I suppose so..."
Hermione sits down on her bed and she sits on her own to face the girl.
She inhales before speaking. "Look, I know you said that everything's fine, but there's clearly a tension."
