CHAPTER 18: MILLIE, POCKY, & LAY

Narrator's POV

"Sir! Sir! We have a terrible situation, sir!"

"..."

"SIR!"

"..."

The woman in-charge shaked the radio and tried to adjust the frequency. But there's no response, she felt that something was wrong.

"Ma'am! The signals from headquarters were interrupted for a second, and now... it's been blocked!" Another rescuer reported to her and she stopped. "... And the chief is not responding either!"

"No...!" She mumbles as she realizes something. "NO! Hindi maaari 'to!" Dali-dali siyang pumunta sa lamesa at kumuha ng baril. "Quick, puntahan mo si Chief! Report to me the brief condition of the headquarters—"

{"I'm afraid there's no need for that."}

"Wha—"

Nandito sila ngayon sa isang silid na punong-puno ng monitor, at may biglang umilaw sa mga iyon. Sa maliit na monitor may lumabas na static, isang misteryosong boses ay nagsimulang nagsalita.

{"You're the agent in-charge of this rescue operation, aren't you?"}

"W-wag mong sabihing..."

{"Hmmm... *chuckle* I can't believe that immobilizing a member of the "Ultimates" was this easy. Your chief's reaction is really entertaining."}

"Y-you bastard—!"

{"Mukhang kailangan niyong iligtas ang boss niyo. Baka kung ano pa ang gawin ko sa kanya, I can't seem to control my urges these days..."}

"..." Malalim ang iniisip ng babaeng rescuer, kaso hinigpitan niya ang hawak ng kanyang baril at sinabing... "Do what you want, Chief ordered me a special request no matter what happens to him... To save Aishi."

She said so, and after that she shot the monitor with her gun.

Every department and building in the huge laboratory, one by one, it was demolished by several bombs. Some of the staff are evacuating, but the children are still trapped in some parts that the rescue team couldn't reach. And Aishi? The rescue team lost contact with her.

Gayunpaman, may isang tao ang pilit na hinahanap ang nawawalang Aishi. Kahit sugatan pa man ang kanyang katawan at napapagod na mga paa, hindi siya tumigil kakatakbo.

"Call for help... c'mon... please... any sign, j-just yell..." Desperadong sambit ng bata habang hinahanap niya parin si Aishi sa gitna ng mga umaapoy na lab. "Nasaan ka...!?"

"... ...sniff... sniff..."
