Chapter 3: Secret Out

-Naruto's POV-

I started to walk back home. I put my orange hoodie over my head to avoid people recognizing me.

I walked past Ichiraku ramen, but I didn't feel like eating today. I was still worried about mom. I had never seen her so sick. I need something to take my mind off of it. I remember Iruka-sensei talking about a few jutsu. They were pretty basic, but all in all, I think they were a good lesson for the first day.

I went to the training grounds that were near the Forest of Death. It made for an even harder training course because some of the wild animals from the forest would lurk out and make for an awesome opponent.

I was about to start channeling my charka into my first to punch a tree when I heard a small smack. I tried to ignore it but then I heard it again, but louder. I sighed and followed the sound quickly.

I stopped on a tree branch when I saw a girl around my age. She had dark blue hair and the same eyes as that long-haired guy who was looking for that Hinata girl. She seemed to be training on the farther end of my training grounds. She looked determined and she used her palms to hit a post over and over again.

After about 5 minutes, she took a break. "I told you I could do it! I hit it 100 times." She said in between breaths. Who was she talking to? Did she know I was here?

She then took out some dango from a bag not too far from her and held it behind the post to the ground. "Here. I'm sure you're hungry." She smiled.

I couldn't see who she was talking to until it came from behind the post. "Snowy," I said out loud. She must have heard me because her eyes got veiny on the side. She got into a fighting stance and scanned the trees to look for me.

I took a breath and slowly decreased the trace of my charka, but I was going to give up. Before I came from behind the tree, three guys about 2 years older came from the forest and started surrounded the girl. Her expression changed to a scared little girl.

"Hey guys look, it's the little girl with that white puppy again. Why don't you let us take a good look at her?" One of the guys said reaching out to touch Snowy, but the girl pulled her away from him.

"No! You guys were the ones hurting her when I found her. I'm not letting you do that again." The girl said getting her determined look again.

'They hurt Snowy! How dare they!?'

"Oh, don't be so extra I just want to PET HER!" He said kicking the girl in her stomach and knocking her back into the post. The puppy dropped from her hands, and before she could run away another one of the guys grabbed her fur and lifted her.

Snowy whimpered from his grip. I was about to jump into action, but the girl beat me to it as she hit the guy holding Snowy in the chest and knocking him to the ground. And she grabbed Snowy with blood leaking from her mouth. "You are not going to take her!" She said, weakly, dazed from the hit.

"Why you little-" The third guy was about to hit her, but I decided I had seen enough. I jumped in front of the girls and glared at the guys.

"I think you guys have done enough now."

"Heh, what's a little brat like you gonna do?"

"Well since you guys are my seniors, in a fight I would helplessly lose." I started which made the guys smirk. "But ...I am Naruto Uzumaki-Namikaze, the Hokage's son!"

Two of the guys gasped at what I had told them and fear was seen on their faces but the third guy who seemed like the leader had another expression.

"If you are the Hokage's brat then that means you're that demon kid!" he said. 'Why does everyone keep saying that!?'
