Chapter 2

Summer 10 years back was nothing special,Touya was aged 10 and the summer break was about to begin but Touya wish it never did because he hated being Home,a home devoid of comfort and love isn't a home he believes it's a house or a mere building that's all it is.
It was lunch break and kids ran around the school grounds either playing or munching on snacks,Touya never bothered to blend in ,he gazed at his own bandaged hands and he knew the source of those bruises is the reason Touya is set apart from every child his age, roaming around he thought of going to the rooftop since it was the most deserted part of the school and just as he walked up he heard a voice that suddenly scared him
"Why are you up here" you were sitting on a the logs stacked up at the rooftop,legs dangling forth and back.
"Oh my god, could you warn me that you're here before speaking up" Touya is still returning from the shock
"Anyways Touya do you think I'm short?"you question him
Oh Touya recognizes you ,you're the one kid in his classroom,his classmates address as "dwarf" , apparently you had just been admitted to the school and were quite short so the kids went around calling you 'dwarf'
Touya snickers inside due to your question,you really were out here debating with yourself whether you're short enough to be addressed as dwarf or not. Touya wants to erupt in laughter but still a silly smile makes it's way to his face
"I don't know,why don't you come down and we compare our heights" Touya glances up at you
"Um,how do I get down" you're clearly panicking and Touya's smile is getting wider
"How did you got up there" he replies
"I don't know Sam called me 'dwarf' and so I climbed up and wanted to see if I was tall enough ,could I see the sky?" you were frantically gazing here and there
"Ok how about you jump"Touya suggests
"But I'll fall" you pout
"I'll catch you don't worry "
"How can I trust you, maybe you want to make fun of me to"
"I promise I'll catch you"
"Pinky Promise?"
"What's that?"
"You don't know what pinky promise is?"your face was clearly horrified
"No" Touya innocently answers
"Hold out your tiny finger yeah ,now you're supposed to lock it with mine but that's not possible since I'm way up ,how about you just fold it towards yourself,yeah like that"
You were guiding him and Touya must say learning what pinky promise is turns out to be interesting
"Ok now pinky promise"he folds his pinky
"You're not supposed to break it okay,it's like a very strong and big promise"you emphasized.
"Yeah yeah,now jump"
And you did jump, closing your eyes landing right onto Touya tackling him on the ground
Touya's eyes scrunched in pain but atleast you were okay considering you ended on top of him
"Idiot" you were mad ,Touya had failed to catch you and started to make your way to the stairs
"Hey Dwarfy"Touya called you back and you turned thinking you had made him mad
Touya made his way towards you and you started backing off but before you could stumble and fall .Touya got on his knees and started tying your shoelaces which were clearly untied and you had failed to notice that.
"You are more of an idiot" Touya flicked your forehead and walked downstairs.
The next day Touya found you waiting for him at the rooftop
"You walk at the speed of a snail" you told him
"I didn't asked you to wait for me in the first place"
"Well,here you go" you handed him your lunch box.
"What am I supposed to do with this"
"We're eating this together"
"Why"
"Because it's way to much for me alone" you were lying,the thing was yesterday you had noticed Touya without a lunch box or even something bought out of cafeteria and you did know that Touya was the son of the well known Endeavor who was popular for owning Todoroki Enterprises and considering that Touya must get money for lunch but maybe he didn't wanted to eat without a company.
"I don't want to"Touya insisted
"Please just a little,I promise mom cooks very well" you were trying to convince him
And now Touya wanted wanted to, because Rei;his mom was so occupied with having 4 kids including him that often she lagged to treat them equally or fullfil her mother duties but then again his dad was responsible for this to.
"Okay" Touya nodded.
You opened the lunch box, sitting down and gesturing Touya to sit beside you.
You handed half of the split burger to him and as you yourself took the other half.
"Does your mom often make you this delicious lunch?"Touya questioned
"She makes me anything she can often times ,but she made a special burger due to what happened last night"you replied
"And what happened last night "Touya was now looking into your eyes
You swallowed a lump in your throat
"I was asleep and then I heard yelling and I woke up and I saw that dad was about to hit mom so I stopped him and convinced him to let it go,maybe she was thankful so she didn't talked about it but made me a burger"
Touya's eyes were now wide all the way,the way you talked about this to him so casually confused him,one thing was clear,you weren't looking for Touya's sympathy and for the first time Touya thought he had someone to relate to, but Touya was just a child bad with words he didn't know what to reply,how to react.
"Does that happen often?" That's all Touya had to say
"Yeah,but you know I wanted to know about these" you pointed towards his bandages "so I told you my secret,now your turn"
And Touya feels like telling you everything from the start up til now because he's just a child craving comfort tired of keeping all those tales of abuse and violence locked up inside and when finally someone like him shows up splitting their heart open sharing the hell they've been put through,Touya can't hold back and wants to spill out his heart to.
"Oh this,you know our monthly assessment results got sent home and I didn't scored a perfect grade and dad got mad and there was a rod nearby and he told me to hold out my hands and made me count and so he kept hitting and now if I take out the bandages they bleed"Touya dictated.
"I'm sorry " your lips were quivering as you looked like you may burst into tears any minute now
"It's not your fault,Silly"Touya patted your heart
And that is what sets you apart Touya thinks,you can feel his pain and you even try to give him comfort but Touya is none of that he doesn't knows how to share the pain or give words of relief.
"Writing anything must hurt your hands"you asked
"It does,the school was suspicious but dad said I fell and the school said it's a family matter so they have no say in this"Touya replied
"Is your dad home today "
"No,he has a very important meeting today"
"Can you give me your notebooks I'll do your homework,I promise I'll try to make it look like it was done in your hand writing"you suggested
"I live in the street next to you,wanna come at my place,dad won't be home" Now that Touya had someone who he could relate to,he wanted to be your friend so bad
"Sure,be at my front door after school"you raised your hand for a high five and Touya clapped against your palm lightly.
Touya was smiling maybe after ages because he can't recall the last time he smiled.
