track 12. love and affection

steve sat on the ground as he watched his boyfriend helping max teach her girlfriend how to skate, admiring how gentle he was with them. he didn't get upset with them for messing up he was so patient with them and it was a side of him steve barely ever got to see. he only showed it around his boyfriend and the kids, not even robin or nancy saw that eddie could be so sweet. the sun was starting to set and it was too hot that day to be doing this, but none of them seemed to mind.

they only ended up heading back to eddie's trailer because el had a bunch of small cuts and bruises from the amount of times she fell. but the whole time she was laughing, max helping her back up each time.

on the drive back to eddie's trailer steve let his mind wander to things he wouldn't normally think about. sure, they were young and they still had years to figure things out but there was so much they couldn't do. they couldn't legally get married, as much as eddie will joke that he's definitely husband material. and it's not like they could have kids, those two things bothered him more then he realized.

but when he really thought about it he was perfectly content with the way things were. dustin was the main reason the two met to begin with. if it hadn't been for eddie inviting mike and dustin to join hellfire steve would've probably never ended up with the love of his life.

wait, love of his life?

he knew he had really loved eddie, that was for sure. but it was on that sunny october afternoon that it really hit him just how much he did. he was considering things he had never dreamed of with anyone else and steve genuinely wanted to spend the rest of his life with eddie.

they stopped to get the girls ice cream before they dropped them off across the street at max's trailer. they held hands as they walked away from steve's car and it made steve even more hopeful for things to change.

his best friend was gay, and so were a lot of the kids in the group. the whole reason mike and elven broke up is because mike had a long term crush on will. of course el didn't mind, she had liked max ever since the summer her and mike had broken up to begin with.

eddie leaned up against steve's car seeming lost in thought. "stevie? do you want to go see a movie or something? i miss taking my boy out"

"eddie, baby when you word it like that you sound like you're going to kill me"

steve laughed obviously not being serious about what he said, murder was still a sore spot for eddie and he would immediately apologize if it seemed like it was bothering him. but instead to his surprise he just winked at steve and got back in the car.

"i can't kill you i love you far too much for that, but! i can't promise i won't be rough with you"

the words made steve choke on nothing but air. it was the way eddie said it so effortlessly, because steve still didn't understand the whole...whatever it was that eddie had going on with that. all he knew was that he stopped wearing that black bandanna in his pocket ever since the day they kissed.

they got to the theater and ordered their popcorn and drinks, of course eddie picked a movie steve had never heard of before. he tried explaining to him what it was about, but all he could understand was something about vampires and california.

it wasn't scary, but eddie did seem a little uncomfortable at parts. he had taken steve to go see the lost boys since it had just come out, and michael reminded eddie a little too much of himself to the point that he felt like crying. he held onto steve's hand, not caring if anyone else saw. the movie was amazing and steve was shocked he liked it, making eddie smile from how he lit up when he talked about his favorite parts.

"you sort of look like them, all your missing is like..a motorcycle?"

"babe i swear i'm not a vampire"

steve shook his head to disagree in a joking way, opening the car door for him even though he hardly did that it was habit at this point.

"although, i can't say i don't bite, because you know i do"

steve needed to drive but eddie was leaving small kisses on his neck and almost actually biting him, it was driving steve insane. not necessarily in a bad way but they were still in the parking lot.

"not here" steve was barely able to stutter the words out, as much as he didn't want him to stop he also didn't want them to get caught. especially in such a compromising position, eddie's lips still on his boyfriends neck and his hands on his waist.

"well then you better drive fast stevie, im not very patient"

it might not have been smart for him to drive back to eddie's house when he wasn't thinking clearly, but he made it back with both of them alive.

eddie grabbed the front of steve's jacket dragging him inside, shoving him up against his bedroom door to pin him against it. steve couldn't get a word out before eddie's lips were on his. when they kissed it tended to be softer, but this was the exact opposite. it was all heated, both of them grabbing each other's hair trying to pull the other closer.

any attempt steve made at taking control failed. that's just how they worked, eddie was the one who did that. so when they finally broke apart from making out, steve panting and his lips red he finally asked him.

"what was um..fuck what was it, the bandanna in your pocket? what was that for?"

eddie looked confused since he hasn't worn it in so long, but the expression on his face softened when he realized steve actually wanted to know.

"you really want to know?"

he didn't get an answer only a small nod from steve.

"basically, it was to show other guys that not only am i gay...i only top, and i'm pretty sure you don't mind that right?"

"it's different but i can't say i don't like it, i'd be lying"

they were both sitting on eddie's bed now, steve on his lap while he played with a piece of eddie's hair that framed his face.

"oh and..." eddie mumbled the last part so quietly "i like receiving and..inflicting pain"

"you're going to have to repeat that baby"

the grip he had on steve's waist tightened and he almost immediately understood, even before eddie spoke up.

"i like receiving and inflicting pain, you heard me that time stevie"

/so technically that was supposed to be the last part since it's the last track of the album, but i'd feel bad leaving it just like this. so either i'll write more chapters on here or make a second book, up to you guys! i'll do either one just want to know what people think
