track 10. hysteria

robin drove honestly way too fast to get to eddie's trailer, and steve wanted so badly to get up to go tell him himself about what had happened to him. but he was in too much pain, on the verge of tears from just barely moving.

she knocked on the door so hard her hand hurt, eddie wasn't answering at it was starting to get on her nerves and make her anxious at the same time. he finally answered the door and it looked like he had been crying, and though he was still in the car it broke steve's heart to see he him like that.

"he's in really bad shape isn't he rob?"

he sounded so shaky when he spoke, about to cry again but he was holding it back just because he didn't want to look so weak.

"yes....i told him he needed to go the hospital, but he insisted on seeing you first"

eddie closed the door behind him and mentally braced himself for what he would see when he went over to his boyfriend. robin followed close behind, just to make sure everything would be okay.

the second eddie saw his boyfriend he broke down crying kissing him gently, making sure to be careful so he didn't hurt him even more.

"who did this to you stevie?...."

steve sighed, shaking his head. he didn't want to say because although he had hurt him, part of steve had missed his parents and he just wanted to make them happy. but eddie wasn't going to let this slide, he stood right by his side softly playing with his hair. normally steve would make some sarcastic comment about not wanting him to mess up his hair, but it was comforting.

"it was my dad..." steve sighed, leaning into to eddie's touch because it was making him feel safe and more calm than he had since this morning.

"baby...i should've known, i shouldn't have left"

he frowned, letting it sink in that if he hadn't left steve probably would be fine right now. maybe not fine but not all bloody and bruised.

"no they would've hurt you worse than worse than they hurt me..i couldn't do that to you"

"you should stay here with me tonight, im not letting you go back until they're gone"

steve opened his mouth to deny that but he just nodded. robin suggested she would drive steve's car back to her house, and get some of steve's clothes and other things in the morning.

eddie tried to pick steve up without hurting him more but that was nearly impossible considering steve definitely had a broken rib. but he did it as gently as he could and laid him down in his bed. he took steve's shirt off, cleaning the wounds and putting bandages around them to ease the pain a little bit. and after each bandage was put on he kissed the spot they were.

"i want to protect you steve, i'm never going to let them hurt you ever again"

he kissed steve's cheek, putting one of his hoodies on him so he could feel warm and more comfortable since he knew steve hated being cold. as he got up to go get him some water and other things but steve grabbed a hold of eddie's wrist.

"stay?..."

"baby i'm going to get you water and some aspirin, and maybe something to eat if you feel like eating? i promise i'll be right back"

he let go of his wrist and nodded because as much as he wanted eddie to stay he really was hungry and dehydrated and in so much pain.

"i am a little hungry..thank you eds, i love you"

he was just about to leave the room but he turned around and smiled softly. "you love me?"

"i've said it before, yes i do"

he stood in the doorway processing this moment, he really loved steve and the first time they said it was not as serious as now. the amount of love he had for the boy laying in his bed right now was so much he thought it just might swallow him whole.

"i love you too stevie"

with that he left the room and steve couldn't stop smiling thinking about the look on eddie's face when steve told him he loved him. he was still in an excruciating amount of pain but so lovestruck it almost distracted him from it. he drifted in and out of sleep, trying to stay awake for his boyfriend. but he was so safe, and eddie's room was so comforting and his sheets smelled like him.

steve was asleep when eddie came back, and eddie couldn't help but smile at how pure he looked right now. he put the water and his food on the table by his bed, gently shaking steve as an attempt to wake him up.

"hm?..wh? what" steve sounded confused and tired as he opened his eyes to see eddie sitting next to him again.

"you fell asleep sleeping beauty, i brought you some food and water and you can go to sleep after that"

he kissed steve's forehead, messing with his hair before he gave him the things he brought. he was rubbing little circles into steve's back without even realizing it, but he could tell it was helping so he didn't stop.

he put everything in the sink when steve was done, and came back to him half asleep again and holding a pillow.

"can i sleep with you?"

of course steve took that the wrong way and blushed so much it was embarrassing as he stuttered out "not..right now?" making eddie laugh so much while he just looked confused and painfully unaware.

"not like that stevie, move over baby i meant you can hold me instead of my pillow"

he moved over as much as he could since the pain was subsiding ever since he got here, he immediately let himself be held as soon as eddie laid down next to him.

"you can stay here as long as you need to baby, get some rest"

steve yawned, nodding because he was too tired to reply at first.

"goodnight love" eddie kissed him so tenderly, making sure to not hold him so tightly and before steve could say anything back he was asleep.
