I'm Wyvern, your author for this story!! :)

(Yes, the name is new. I'm trying things out :))

I've had this vague sense of a story for some time, and now I'm actually writing it.

Before we dive in, I wanna go over a few things first. (You really don't have to read this, but this is (surprisingly) actually not the longest author's note I've ever written haha).

I love Newsies. And I hope you all do too. I just love everything about it. The story, the characters, the music, the songs, the soul of it. It just makes me so, so happy.

This is not going to be based off of 92sies or Livesies specifically. In this story I'm going more for historical accuracy than movie/musical canon, so that oughtta be interesting. Of course, I probably will reference both, and I probably will do appearances based off of 92sies. But for the most part, it's not going to be 92sies or Livesies based. I will have Jack Kelly and David Jacobs, though. It's important that they're Jack Kelly and David Jacobs instead of their more historically accurate counterparts--who will also be featured in this story.

There's gonna be a time skip. So the thing is that this is based in 1914, which is 15 years after 1899. So ... yeah, they're all gonna be 15 years older than their 1899 selves ... putting most of them in their 30's, which is as weird as it is for me to think about as it is for you.

And here's the thing about the setting...

This story is going to be in two parts. It starts off in 1914 and then it ends off ... a little later. But not that later. But yeah there's going to be some plot in the first half, and then another part in the second half. My guess is that each part is going to be 20-25 chapters, putting the story as a whole to around 50 chapters. I don't know exactly. Honestly, it could become much longer or shorter for all I know. We'll find out together! :)

I love conspiracy theories. They are so hard to understand but that doesn't stop me from loving them haha. They're so fun to follow. And I just love the mystery aspect and the wait, this connects to something bigger, and just everything that goes along with it.

The first part of this is going to be conspiracy, the second part is going to be angst. Yeah, sorry about that. I really don't consider myself an angsty person but I end up writing a bunch of angst anyway haha. I hope that the story is good enough for you to keep reading even when it's not the happiest.

I am doing SO much research. How much of it is going to end up in the story? I don't know yet. But yes, historical accuracy is something that I mayyy care about too much, but I love doing research and learning new things, so I guess this is just finding a way to channel that. On the other hand, most of the time I have no clue what I'm doing, so historical research is nice haha.

Although there's definitely the I swear I'm a writer!! element present when it comes to my search history haha.

I really do have no clue what I'm doing. Okay, I have some clue, but there is still so much I don't have figured out yet for this story. And that's okay. (I'm teaching myself that it's okay haha). We get to find out what'll happen together!! :)

Other little miscellaneous things I wanna mention:

The prologue will be in 1899 before the massive time skip :)

The real Crutchy Morris died in 1910, so he's not going to be in the main story :,(

The real Kid Blink passed away July 18, 1913, at 32 years old. This story is based a year after that. (And even when not alive, the iconic Kid Blink still has a huge part to play).

I'm headcanoning Race as Italian and Irish--because the real Racetrack Higgins was most likely Irish; and because I cannot let go of the Italian Race headcanon haha.

Oh on that note, fun fact: the real Kid Blink was Italian.

There will be everyone's gay ships :)

Random newsies will probably be inserted here and there throughout the story.

Can you belive that this author's note is actually under 1000 words haha. It didn't even make it to 900 words. I know that I am very bad at consistent chapter lengths, but each chapter *should* be at least 1000 words. And there are going to be lots of LONG author's notes haha. That's what you get from literally any story I write haha :)

I'm so excited to write this story, y'all. I still have no idea what's going to happen haha, but I am so excited. Like ... who's ready?? ;)
