It was 10:32 pm, I was in my room watching my tv when there was a knock at my door, I paused the movie I was watching and opened my door.
Waiting on the other side was no other but, Colby.
"Hey, what are you doing up?" I asked while Colby came in and sat on my bed. I closed the door behind me quietly and sat down next to him.
"Do you want to go have some fun?" Colby blurted out with a grin. I was taken aback especially because of how late it was but I'm always up for a bit of fun, "Yeah, sure?" I replied still quite confused about what he had up his sleeves.
Colby quickly jumped up from my bed, "Good, come down when you're ready." He stated while leaving my room. I was completely confused about what we were doing especially at this time of night but without question, I walked over to my wardrobe. I took out my matching lounge set from 'White Fox' and decided that It would be sufficient for tonight, After dressing in my loungewear I placed and tied my 'Silver Birch' 550 New Balances onto my feet.
-
I opened my door without a sound and quietly tiptoed down the stairs to meet Colby, I memorised every step that creaked or groaned when stepped on and stepped over them, I made myself a path with no noise. My shoes hit the hard cold tiles of the floor, I successfully made it downstairs.
Colby was waiting at the front door patiently, I tiptoed over to him and tried to not make a single clatter. "Okay, I've disabled the alarm for two hours." Colby whispered informatively, "You ready?" Colby questioned before placing his hand on the door handle. There was no going back now, "Always." I smiled.
Colby swiftly opened the door showing the dark neighbourhood, no alarm. We waited a moment and listened for any noise coming from upstairs, not a single whisper was to be heard. The house was quiet for once and it was quite peaceful but eery, I wouldn't be surprised if there was multiple spirits in this house that Sam and Colby have brought home with them from investigations.
-
Colby and I closed the door behind us as we stepped outside, a cold breeze hit my skin; creating goosebumps. We speeded towards his car, As I was about to open the car door, Colby opened it for me. "Wow, such a gentleman!" I teased while hopping into the warm car. Colby laughed and walked over to the driver's side. Colby jumped in and revved the old car's engine, Colby drove away from the comforting house and into the darkness of the silent streets.
I connected to his aux while he drove and played my music, he acts like he hates my music but we all know he likes it. 'Fuck it I love you' by Lana Del Rey blared through his car speakers. Out of the corner of my eye, Colby was tapping the steering wheel to the beat. I quietly giggled to myself and looked out the window.
-
Colby still wouldn't tell me where we were going and it was beginning to get on my nerves, Impatient is my middle name for a reason. Colby and I shared a few words and quiet laughs however, he was focused on driving and I didn't want to distract him. Although did get distracted once or twice while glancing at me through the mirrors a few times.
When Colby glanced at me for a third time through his mirror in awe, I piped up mockingly. "Eyes on the road, Brock" I teased once again. Colby's face blushed a bright pink as he laughed awkwardly knowing he had been caught.
-
We had been driving for what seemed an hour but it was only 30 minutes, Colby parked the car in a familiar car park and straight away I could hear the crashing of waves and I smelled fresh salty water. I knew exactly where we were, the beach.
A smile crept onto my face as I gazed at Colby in admiration. "The beach!" I smiled while jumping out of the car in excitement. Colby laughed at my delightful mood, "Yes, the beach." Colby smiled cheerfully "I-" I was stopped halfway. "But, There's more," Colby exclaimed. A look of confusion now covered my face, I followed Colby to the boot (trunk) like a lost puppy. Colby opened the boot of the car and took out a black bag and two flashlights.
I should've known.
We walked down the steps to the beach after locking the car, it was a beautiful night. The waves crashing against the rocks, the soft sand cushioning my every step and the strong but fresh smell of the sea. It was perfect; however, we didn't stop for even a moment. We kept walking until we were right in front of an old, abandoned and closed-off beach house.
Colby jumped over the fence with ease and without a single care in the world. He waited for me on the other side while I hesitated for a split second. I sighed in doubt and crossed my arms loosely, "Colby.." I uttered while backing away from the fence. "Amora, I promise. It won't be like the last time." Colby replied through the gaps in the fence. I thought for a moment.
It was closed off with a rather high fence and looked brand new except for the chipping paint and greenery climbing up the walls. How desperate could someone be to get into this place? Hopefully not as desperate as Colby and I.
Fuck It.
"Fine." I sighed, Colby smiled and helped me over the fence. I jumped down from the fence and we began walking closer to the house, I can't help but think about how I thought we were going to do something romantic, like looking under the stars! But no, of course not.
I'm dating a boy that investigates abandoned places for a living, for fuck sake.
-
We walked around the outside of the building, seeing if there was any way for us to get in. All the windows were boarded up with thick wood with sharp nails hammered into them and all the doors were locked, except for one..which I found! Congrats to me.
I opened the old, rotting door that squeaked loudly and that was stiff as it had not been touched for years, after the door fully opened we slipped inside, the house was filled of graffiti, top to bottom. The place looked frozen in time, Peoples belongings were scattered among the place and the house still had furniture. The place was beautiful in a way.
Colby told me the origins of the place, he said; In 2009, a family moved into this beach house. A normal beach house at best, or so they thought. Little did they know; This house was under a 'curse' and anyone that lived in the beach house would inherit the curse, little by little; things progressed from just having bad luck to unbearable fires, deadly car crashes and even death itself.
Soon after their oldest daughter died in the house, they couldn't take it anymore. They paid a priest to clean the house of the unbreakable curse, then they left. They packed a few of their belongings and never came back.
-
We walked around the house for some time, taking photos and such then we went upstairs, Colby grabbed two spray cans out of his bag and handed one to me, my eyebrows furrowed in confusion. Then it clicked, he wanted me to do graffiti. He smiled graciously at me, "You're first time graffitiing!" Colby exclaimed. I giggled before finding a bit of wall with space and shaking the can.
Colby sneaked his arms around my waist and hugged me from behind while I sprayed the light blue paint upon the wall. I had no idea what to put, so I did the first thing that came to my mind.
'A + C = <3'
Colby chuckled quietly and kissed my cheek. "You're too cute." He whispered, I leaned into him and smiled. I looked at my 'artwork' and giggled because of how messy my writing had been, blue paint dripped down the walls onto the old stained carpet.
-
After exploring the upstairs, Colby and I left. While I climbed over the fence I thought to myself; Colby was right, exploring the beach house wasn't like the last time and it was fun! If every abandoned place was like the beach house, I'd be in every video.
-
Once arriving back at the house, Colby and I snuck back into the house and fell asleep watching a random comedy movie, the movie was blaring in the background when my eyes became heavy; i tried to stay up for longer but I slowly but surely gave in and fell asleep. I fell asleep with Colby arms wrapped around my waist, that's the last thing I remembered.
