So this took a while to get started on. Exam after exam, projects, and just ugh. Plus there was this one time where I started crying because I realized that Kakashi Hatake didn't exist. But you know, you probably don't want to hear this.

YOUR POV

"C'mon (y/n)! Don't give up yet!" I was panting hard and I couldn't reply because of it. Yes, we were using our gear, but we were also running from time to time.

"What are we.. Even doing here?" We stopped on one of the branches of these big ass trees and my fragile body kneeled on it.

"To study the beautiful things that are titans, silly! Don't tell me you've lost your inspiration."

"O-Of course I h-haven't. Don't assume as s-such." I was still very tired out.

"Hey. You're going to be okay right? I know Hanji is a very energetic person, so it's hard to keep up," Moblit spoke with ease of breath, unlike I.

"And yet you aren't out of breathe." He just smiled and looked back up from me.

"We are here to observe any deviants that appear, but anything will suffice for our research. Now spread out, but not too far." Hanji-san left for another tree across from the one we were at as the rest of them went off in their own direction. I stayed at my spot, almost throwing up at the massive heat I was feeling within my body.

I could hear the faster-than-average feet coming towards the entrance of the forest at which we were at.

'That must be the titans.' I looked down at the bottom of the tree to see that 3 15 meter titans sitting there. Yes, sitting. Deviants. They were just sitting there, almost like they were listening to something. Then one of them looked up. I mean up as in at me. But it's eyes were clouded.

It's blind?!

Before I could register anything, it was jumping at me and all I could do was scream. Wait, I can get away. I stood up shakily, and shot of in a random direction. I'm not even paying attention to how far I'm going, I just want to get away. I could hear someone shouting, but faintly. I spotted a fairly high branch and took that chance to stop.

By now, I was dizzy from fright and all I wanted to do was sit and stare off in the distant, trying not to throw up my heart. One of my hooks hung lazily from where it was supposed to be, but I could care less.

I got away, right? The deviants were blind after all and they couldn't see-or more like sense-a tiny sliver of a rope.

I was in for a rude awakening. It was pulled down and of course I'm going to go with it. I dangled in front of its face as it stood from its sitting position. I expected it to eat me, but instead, it swung me back and forth before throwing me; I went from one side of the forest to the other. Literally. I was surprised I didn't hit any trees. But I spoke to soon. At the very edge of the east side, my back hit a huge tree trunk and I passed out.

TIMESKIP

The sound of paper being rummaged through woke me up. I opened my eyes, expecting to see sunshine, but instead it was cloudy out. I shift my eyes around to see who is moving the papers to see red hair in a ponytail.

"Hanji-san. Where am I?" It wasn't the infirmary, the walls weren't white.

"You're in my office! Nice to see your finally awake. " She stood from her desk and walked to stand in front of me. Painfully, I sat up and looked at her.

"Don't move as much. That titan threw you pretty hard. " I nod. It was silent for a while with Hanji standing over me and I was looking at my lap.

'What should I say?'

"You know, you don't have to go on anymore expedition if you want. That must've been traumatizing and I can understand if you don't want to."

"No! I will continue to benefit humanity with research, whether I'm traumatized of not doesn't keep me from further advancing our knowledge of titan." Hanji sighed and sat down next to me.

"Okay, but promise that you will stay close to me outside of the walls." I nodded my head and her seriousness was gone in seconds.

"Good!" She laughed slightly-at what I don't know-and it sent heat to my cheeks. I've never heard her laugh except for when we were with titans, so I took advantage of this moment and laughed with her, pushing through the pain in my back.

"That probably hurts. Do you need any medicine?" She slowly stopped laughing and looked at me worriedly.

"I'm fine. You don't have to worry about me. How long have I been asleep?"

"1 1/2 days. It might be too painful for you to stand." Despite what she said and my stubbornness, I stood up. I felt white hot pain and fell against Hanji. She didn't even flinch when I stumbled. All she did was hold me by my shoulders with one hand while the other was supporting my back.

"That doesn't hurt when I touch your back, does it?" I shook my head. I was very close to tears, but I didn't let them fall.

"I'm not going to go anywhere. So you can stay here." I nodded and expected her to let me go, but she sat down still with her arms around me. I ended up sitting on her lap with my legs out to one side and my hands laying on her sides. Realizing she wasn't letting go of me anytime soon, I laid my head down in the crook of her neck. I could feel her shoulders rise and fall as she inhaled and exhaled and her neck was unnaturally hot.

HANJI'S POV

I could feel the blush on my neck and cheeks, but I didn't do anything to hide it; all I did was keep my hands in place on the (h/c) haired girl. She felt so small when in reality, she was the same size as me. Her hands on my sides seemed to conjure never ending electric shocks that traveled through my body. In short, I never wanted to let go. Her body was warm, and I enjoyed that. Being able to touch something warm in such a cold world is a rarity but a luxury, no? Then I realized, this warm, light-like thing was almost blown out a few days ago.

"Hanji-san, you're hurting me.." I loosened my grip around the (h/c) haired girl's fragile back.

"I'm sorry."

"You don't have to apologize." She freaked out slightly and I interrupted her with a small laugh.

"You don't have to be so formal towards me. I'm only a year older than you which means you also don't have to say Hanji-san if you like." She blushed and put her head back down which made me laugh more.

"You're so cute," I fangirled slightly and the blush deepened on her face. Yes, I realize what I said, and I don't care.

"(Y/n)!" I stretched out her name as I not so lightly threw myself onto her.

"H-Hanji-san-"

"I told you to call me Hanji! Anyway, we finally caught one of those blind titans. Don't worry, it's dead. So we can poke and prod it without getting eaten!" She turned around in my grip and looked at me.

"Then let's go!" I slung her over my shoulder and ran, but not towards the lab. Instead, I went to my office and once I got there I stood (y/n) on her feet.

"Close your eyes. Before we get to lab, I want to do something. " Without her answer, I very very quickly kissed (y/n). Her eyes snapped open and her (s/c) cheeks had massive amounts of pink on them.

"Now we can go." I turned to open the door, but she grabbed the back of my jacket.

"You know, you could've told me before hand. I would've kissed back." Surprised, I look backed at her to see a big, closed-eye smile that was contagious because I smiled. I was happy enough to kiss her again, her having enough time to respond.

And I could feel the one warm thing in my life illuminating everything around us.
