Chapter 16

Remus finnaly brought up the courage to lift his head and open his eyes to take in his surroundings, he was still at Hogwarts. His was sat on someone's lap and they were sobbing and then he heard it the swearing the shuddering breathing, the birds around him twittering, he was alive. He then wiped his tears away and looked to see who it was around him. It was Sirius, Lily and James. Sirius eyes were blurry with tears but he still looked down towards Remus who  looked back at him his eyes also teary and there Remus broke he buried his face in Sirius shoulders and then realised what that warmth was, it had been Sirius hugging him.

He returned the hug and through gulps he finnaly was able to get out the words "It... Wasn't.... Me.... It.... It.... was.... Reg-regulus". "What" he heard Lily saying her voice cracking he raised his head and then stood a shake in the movement and Sirius joined him. He wiped his face and said "Regulus, he made me jump and the notes and avoiding you, he was going to kill you guys if I didn't" he said finnaly said finding his voice.

"Remus-you" someone said and he turned and there was McGonagall. "I saw from my office" she said a shudder in her voice. "Regulus, made me" he said using each beating moment to focus on his breathing. "How hasn't he been spotted?" She said astonished and still fearful. "Invisibility cloak" Remus said holding up the item. "All of you stick together and go to the common room and Potter keep better care of your items now hurry along" and so they did as told.

Remus knew all eyes were on him but he was silent, yet he was still alive and that seemed to just keep him going. They got to the common room and it was empty so Remus went and sat in a chair pulling his legs to his chest and with his head down he said "Regulus made me do it all, ignore you all, give the notes he had written, jump" he said. He dared looking up they had all sat down except Sirius who stood just a few metres from Remus hanging on his every word. "Oh Remus" Lily said in sorrow and she came over and hugged him. "I'm sorry" he said softly but loud enough for everyone to hear.

They all talked just small things Sirius had taken a seat at this point. Just an hour before dinner McGonagall came in "No one could find him, eyes will be out for him so just stay safe and Remus don't forgot your potion" she said and with that she left.

It had skipped his mind, tonight was the full moon "I'll go get that" Remus said his eyes not meeting anyone in particular and he left. He thought that weak feeling he had was just the utter sadness stuck in him from today's events, but he was wrong. He went to madam Pompfrey who gave him his potion and then he decided to wait by the grounds before finnaly walking towards the womping willow. He began his way down the pathway it had been years since he had done this alone. He was halfway down when he heard the sound of running feet and a yell, his name. "Remus!" Sirius yelled again and finnaly he came before the boy, it was just the two of them.

"Remus I am so sorry I should of realised what was happening, that it wasn't you, I should of been there, I should of known" Sirius said looking down and his hands in fists. "I'm the one who should be sorry, I had to put you through that, I should of found a way to stop him and I'm so sorry I didn't" Remus said. Sirius looked up to meet his eyes. "This is in no way your fault, he was forcing you, you had no choice" Sirius said taking a step forward so they were half a metre apart.
"And it's no way your fault, how could you have known, he had made it so it had seemed like it was me, you can't blame yourself at all" he also took a step forward so there chest were touching there hearts beating fast as they looked into each other eyes and in one quick movement Sirius cupped Remus' face in his hands went on his tiptoes and kissed him and Remus kissed back. It was soft but nice, Remus couldn't help but smile against the kiss and when Sirius finnaly pulled away and let his feet go to the ground Remus chuckled saying "Shorty". "Well that was beautiful but we better carry on" said the remarkable voice of James with Peter beside him. Remus smiled and they began to walk towards the shreiking shack, he guessed once again he would not be walking down this path alone.

The full moon was an ok that night and when Remus awoke and got into some new clothes he had found the others were still passed out except from from Sirius who in his dog form was watching him patiently. "You can turn back now Pads" Remus smiled and so in his dog from he came right over to Remus and switched back so that there wasn't even a centimetre between them he looped a arm around the taller boys waist saying "Do you need to go to madam Pompfrey?" He asked. "No I think I'm fine, just the usual rest needed" he smiled and Sirius. "We better get going then, PRONGS, WORMS!" he yelled awakening the two and they turned back, the three of them had successfully figured out how to turn back with clothes.

The two began walking with Sirius arm still around Remus' waist as support as the other two began to yawn and stretch soon following them.

"I've missed you" Sirius said softly half way through there walk. "Me too" Remus replied.
