After a slightly perilous journey through the forest of certain death, Star and Marco reach Castle Avarius II. They are accompanied by Buff frog and a contingent of twenty five soldiers. The rest of the army is left behind in a safe spot at the edge of the forest. When they first knock on the door, Ludo is afraid it's Toffee and refuses to let them in until Star lets him know who they are. An apprehensive Ludo lets them in.

Star details their predicament and asks Ludo for help and his army. Naturally, Ludo arrogantly refuses, even after Star reminds him she is the acting Queen of Mewni. It isn't until Buff Frog points out Toffee knows where he is and what Toffee will do to him if he finds him that Ludo cautiously accepts the offer.

Ludo's brother Dennis arrives as an annoyed Ludo asks Star why she didn't use her wand to stop Toffee during the Battle of the Mewni Hills. Slightly agitated now, Star points out for some reason her wand is only half operational and needs a bit more magic to get it going again. Then, Ludo reveals a secret - after the wormhole explosion, a few magic fragments landed all over Ludo's house and he subsequently stored them in his basement. Star, Marco, Buff Frog, Dennis, and Ludo go to the basement, which resembles a mad scientist's lair more than a basement. On the basement floor, they discover at least twenty jars filled with pure magic.

Without much hesitation, Star finds one of the jars, opens it, scopes up some of the magic inside, and sprinkles it on her wand. A few seconds later, sparks fly from the wand and it is once again fully activated. They do the same thing with Marco's pair of dimensional scissors, fully activating them as well.

Unbeknownst to them, they are not the only ones looking for those magic jars. Outside, Toffee has arrived with ten elite soldiers. They quickly subdue the Mewman and Monster guards outside and Toffee calmly knocks on the door, pretending to be a pizza delivery guy. Star looks quickly through a basement window and sees it's Toffee in a black suit at the front door. Their happiness turns to sheer terror. Deciding to buy Star, Marco, and Buff Frog time to escape, Ludo and Dennis decide nobly to distract Toffee, giving the others time to escape. Before going, Star tells Ludo thank you. Ludo smiles a little before going upstairs with his brother to confront Toffee.

Star sends Buff frog to get every single last magic jar he can find and escape through one of the outside windows and into the forest. Before this, Buff frog finds Ludo's army inside the castle and decides to take them with him. Remarkably, Buff Frog does this all successfully ( despite very nearly getting caught by Toffee's soldiers ).

Dennis is about to open the front door when Toffee blows it up with a high intensity energy blast from his wand, pushing Dennis several feet backward. As septarian soldiers rush through with swords in hand, Toffee calmly walks in behind them. Greeting a mortified Ludo, Toffee mockingly tells Ludo how good it is to see him again. Toffee then reminds him of the last time they saw each other ( the time Ludo pushed a pillar on Toffee ). With his wand, Toffee makes several large pillars appear and throws them all at Ludo. Star and Marco peak their heads from the basement as they see Ludo being pummeled by pillar after pillar. Finally, with Ludo barely conscious, Toffee prepares to drop one final pillar onto Ludo. Ludo begs for his life of which Toffee menacingly offers to spare it if he joins his cause. Mustering all his strength and honor, Ludo angrily refuses.

Toffee is about to drop the pillar onto Ludo when Star intervenes and knocks the pillar to the side with a wand blast. A massive magic fight ensues between Star and Toffee, with each one launching magic blasts at the other with little effect.

Marco proceeds to bring Ludo and Dennis to safety in the basement. Marco then emerges from the basement and knocks out the soldiers with Karate. With a decisive Narwhal blast from Star's wand that temporarily immobilizes Toffee, Star and Marco seize their chance and escape into the basement. Quickly getting the dimensional scissors, Star opens a portal to get out of the basement immediately. The first one to go through the portal is Star, followed by Ludo and Dennis. Just as Marco is about to go through the portal, Toffee begins to get up.

Stumbling to his feet and in a half delirious state, Toffee mockingly and loudly tells Marco "I'm everywhere Marco?"..."You can't hide?"..."Do you really think you can protect Star!?". Marco stops at hearing this, with a wave of fear paralyzing him. The basement door swings open! Marco turns with terror to see Toffee looking right at him. With a wide grin, Toffee once again tells Marco menacingly "Do you really think you can protect Star!?"..."Do you?" For a second, Marco looks at Toffee with sheer terror. Toffee continues to grin, knowing he is successfully getting under Marco's skin. Before Toffee can capture Marco, Star reaches to the other side of the portal and pulls Marco through just in time.

As Toffee reaches the floor of the now empty basement, he sees a small puddle of magic on the floor by his feet. Picking it up with his hand, he sprinkles it onto his wand. This makes the wand twice as powerful.

Star's army is camped just on the edge of the Forest of Certain Death. Tom, Janna and Ferguson are trying to care for Mariposa and Meteora while Alfonzo, Chloe, and Jackie are trying to organize some of the tents. While getting the tents ready, Jackie discovers the sand covered mural Star and Marco found on the day of the graduation party. Taking it to the main tent, they all clean it off the best they can.

What is revealed is an image of an enormous battle between a Joint Mewman -Monster army and Toffee's army. But the battle doesn't seem to be showing the Battle of the Mewnian Hills. It also appears to be fought on the outskirts of a town and the two armies seem to be evenly matched. At the center of the mural, two figures in armor are fighting Toffee with swords. The faces of the two figures are covered with thick sand. Before Janna can clean the sand off the figures' faces, a scout in the army calls out that someone is emerging from the forest. Tom and Janna quickly put away the mural and head out to see who it is. It's Buff frog followed by Ludo's exhausted army of monsters!

Buff frog is happily greeted by his children at the camp and Tom and Jackie orders the soldiers to provide the Monsters with food and shelter. Then, a worried Buff frog asks where's Star ( believing she, Marco, Ludo, and Dennis should have been back at camp by now )? Now also worried, Tom is about to send out a small search party for Star and the group in the forest when they appear back into the camp via a portal, shaken and exhausted but alive.
