Chapter 30

"There are about three extra rooms open.." Maddy said unsure whom to direct to.

Abhi stepped forward, "Me and Mukti would like one room."

"I'll take one" Druv said, holding Alya.

"We'd like one" Manik and Arya spoke together.

"Why do you guys need one?" Maddy asked looking at Druv and Alya. When they didn't answer and looked embarrassed, "Never mind, just..umm..keep it low"

Abhi started to leave when he noticed that Mukti isn't following him. He turned back and stared at her.

"I'm not coming" Mukti stated.

"You can either walk by yourself or we can do it the hard way." Abhi said looking at her with a strict expression. They both stared at each other hard for a few seconds but when Abhi noticed that Mukti wasn't moving, he started taking big determined steps towards her, making her quickly give in. "Fine! I'm walking."

She stormed past him walking in the opposite direction of the room that was situated.

"It's this way." Abhi grumbled. "When you don't know where to go, why don't you listen for once?"

"My body! My wish!" Mukti sneered at him and stomping ahead of him towards the room.

Abhi cleared his throat and had a slight blush, "She's going to be the death of me."

"What?" Mukti looked back at him raising her right eyebrow. "Nothing"

The Room

It was quiet.

Irking quiet.

It's been 10mins.

Abhi sat on the bed while Mukti stood near the window, with the door closed.

"How?" Abhi asked, breaking the silence.

"What?" Mukti asked, now looking at him.

"My past, how do you know?"

"I don't. It's a rumor in the media. The physical description fit you, so I assumed."

"It's true" he said quietly.

"I'm sorry"

"For?"

"Saying things that I didn't mean."

"Anger gets the worst out of us"

"I know."

"I wanted to..I always thought"

"About?"

"That I'll give a call today, I will message today, but as time passed by I couldn't bring myself to do so."

"Why?"

"I thought you wouldn't answer my call or message since its been so long. Maybe you moved on.."

"But you never tried"

"I'm sorry"

"I don't need your sorry."

"I know"

"Why did you assume that I moved on?" Mukti asked, now sitting in a chair.

"She always said."

"Who?"

"Brittany"

"Who?"

"My ex. My abuser."

"What would she say?"

"That no one wants me, and that they just took me in because they pitied me. Soon they will realize that they did a mistake and will leave me alone because people who got close to me all died."

"That's not true. You know that too, right?"

"I..I don't know"

"Abhi, whatever she said, is not true. No one is leaving you all alone. You have your family." Mukti said, coming closer to Abhi.

He just shook his head in a no. "I will kill them too."

"What makes you say that? Did something happen?"

"My parents, Nandani's parents.."

"What?"

"Me, Nandani and Arya are not really blood related. Nandani is my cousin. Her parents adopted me, after mine died in a car accident. And Arya's parents adopted me and Nandani when her's also died in a car accident."

"I..I don't understand"

"I'm the only son and living member of Thakkar Empire. My father is Nandani's mother's brother and Nandani is the only daughter and living member of Murthy Empire. Arya is the only son of Oberio Empire." Abhi said looking into her eyes as she was now sitting near him on the bed.

"Thakkar..Murthy? You are telling me...that Nandani is the same Nandani that we used to call as star? And you are the guy that star always talked about? The brother?" Mukti asked looking at him in shock.

"Yes"

"Then..why? Why did you guys hide? Why reveal it now? We were searching for star for so many years...Manik.."

"After we got adopted in Oberio, they used their power to keep us hidden and investigate how our parents died, because the accident was so similar to each other, the same road, the same truck, the same time..it can not be a coincidence. We found out that it wasn't an accident but a well-planned murder. We don't who did that, and who is behind it. We saw the same pattern again after so many years when I got into an accident instead of Arya. That's when we realized that the murderer is now after Oberio's as well."

"Holy shit"

"We know for one thing that none of senior Fab5 Empires are into this, which means there is someone else behind all of this. And if that someone succusseds in eliminating Oberio Empire, then their next target is Manik."

"But what was your reason for changing your number and everything?"

"I had to. I couldn't risk mine and Nandani's real identities. We change our numbers and locations every two years. In order to keep us hidden from the world. This was our life the day when we entered Oberio Empire. We just don't know who is going to strike at us and how. We couldn't trust anyone besides ourselves. And I couldn't risk bringing you into this mess."

"I want to. I will be on run with you if this is what it is. I don't care. I'm ready to leave everything behind"

"You aren't understanding Mukti. This type of life is not something to fantasize about. I already have to keep a look out for the people near me all the time in the fear that someone might attack. I can't bring the love of my life into this mess and risk losing you as well. What if something happens to you?"
