Johnny

It took me a while of tossing and turning just for me to fall asleep, with the comforting sound of the fan with the sounds of light snores coming from the bed going through one of my ears and out the other.

Maybe I was worried about being caught. But thinking about being worried only made me more tired, and thus, I fell asleep.

When I woke up, Y/N was sitting on the edge of her bed, looking at the wall while humming a certain tune. I couldn't figure out what it was since I was still half conscious.

My blurry vision soon cleared up, and I noticed she was wearing something, something under her blanket.
It was my jacket. The jacket I left on her last night.
She eventually looks down at me, noticing my stare.

"Hi."
She smiles, holding onto both the jacket and the blanket wrapped around her.

"Hi. You're wearing it."
She looks at her arms hidden under the blanket.

"Yeah. You're okay with me wearing it, right?"

"Mhm. Looks good on you."
I mutter with a yawn.

"Really?"
I nod, watching a small smile grow on her face.

"I'm never taking it off then."

"Come on, that's my only jacket."

"I'm just joking. I'll give it back later."

There was a sudden knock at the door, and I start panicking. I didn't want Y/N to get in trouble because she helped me. What do I do again? Do I leave or do I just stay here–

"Hide!"
She whisper-yells, and I crawl under her bed, trying not to hit my head.
She doesn't do anything about the mattress other than grabbing the pillow, and she opens the door.

"Hey dad."
She greets, as I try to catch a glimpse of whatever I could from the small gap between the bedframe and the floor.

"Hey kid. Why's the mattress out?"
I can tell she's looking down at it while I wait for her to say something.

"I–I thought that I'd cool down more if I slept on the floor so I took the mattress out. It didn't work, so I just moved back to my bed and left it there 'cause I was too tired."

"Couldn't you just open a window?"

"I'm scared someone will– break in or sneak in! You know that"
I almost laughed, nearly blowing my cover at Y/N's coincidental scenario.

"Uh huh. Where'd you get the jacket?"
Her dad asks.
Wait, she was still wearing the jacket? Shit, shit, shit...

"Me and Johnny went out for a walk one night and for some reason I was cold, so he gave me it. I...forgot to give it back to him since I haven't been out."

"I don't remember you coming home with that jacket on."

"U–Um, you were sleeping. I got home late."

"What were you doing out late?"

"I told you, we went out for a walk."
It's silent. A long lasting silence that felt like forever.
