Hatters POV

Marcy came downstairs excitedly. "Is there a pool anywhere? Perhaps a beach?" She asks, I nod. "Why? Would you like to go?" I ask, and she nods vigorously. She must be a swimmer. "Well, I don't plan on getting in," I say, she smiles. "That's fine! I can swim," Marcy reassures me, I nod. A few moments later, she comes down in her bathing suit. "Shall we go?" I ask, and she nods. When we leave outside my door is Mally. "Would you like to come with us?" I ask, bending down to her. "To where?" She asks. "The beach, Marcy here wanted to go very much so I decided to take her!" I respond. Mally nods in agreement and all three of us head straight to the beach. I really do hope Marcy can swim, I don't want to get my clothes wet even though I have many copies of this outfit, it would be an inconvenience.

When we're there Marcy does cool tricks, after each one I clap and smile and she smiles back. After many tricks Marcy stands up in the water. "One final trick left ladies and gentlemen," She bows as if she's doing a performance. She turns and belly flops? "Haha, do you need to re-do it Marcy? that looked painful," I say, no response. "Marcy? Is the water fogging up your ears? You should get out now," I respond. "Hatter," Mally says, I turn to her. "What?" She points at Marcy. "Look." Bubbles coming up from her unresponsive body. That's all I could hear I take off my hat and sit it down. "Hatter what are  you doing?" Mally exclaims. "She's clearly drowning, Mally! I have to do something!" I shout and turn to see Marcy's body sinking. I jump straight into the water without a second thought and grab her. I bring her up to the surface and look down at her. "Marcy?"

She sits up. "Thanks Hatter, but," Marcy stops. "But what?" I ask, she turns to me. "You just got pranked! Hahaha! You actually thought I was drowning?" She laughs. I sit there and stare at her, I can't help but feel angry and disappointed in her. "Marcy you're grounded," I stand up. "You can't do that!" Marcy yells. "I can too! I am your caretaker and as your caretaker you are grounded I am mad and disappointed in you Marcy," I turn and head home, her trailing behind me. "Bye, Marcy," Mally says. "Bye, Mally," When we get home, she goes to her room. Hours pass and I hear her leave her room and walk downstairs to me. "Are you mad at me, Tarrant?" She asks. "I'm disappointed, Marcy," I respond, she frowns. "I'm sorry, it was only meant to be a prank," She looks down, guilty. "Marcy I was worried for you, what if you had drowned? There would be no way of contacting your mother until she comes to visit at that will be god knows when, maybe never! Not to mention, I might actually go fully Mad if you were to die right Infront of me," I say fully turning to her. "I'm really truly sorry Tarrant," Marcy says, I can tell she means it. "I hope you are, you'll be ungrounded tomorrow if you behave today," I respond. "Okay, Tarrant," She starts walking up the stairs. "Also, Marcy," I look back at her. "Keep it to 'Hatter' or 'Mad Hatter' if you please, Tarrant is too formal for friends or ahem, children," I mumble the last three words. "Okay, Hatter," She walks upstairs and I hear her door shut.

She isn't a bad kid. Not at all, just needs some learning to do, Marcy is indeed a wonderful child and I'm glad I have her. Although, I would like it if she didn't pretend to die for one of her 'pranks' again. All in all, I can't blame her, she's just a kid. Well, a teen. And she will be as long as she's in wonderland. I look down. "Marcy, Marcy, Marcy," I chuckle. "What am I going to do with you?"
