"Harry," I whispered as I stared at the coffee table, clutching my phone tightly.
"Hi, love. How are you?" Harry replied over the phone and I grimaced as I could hear people in the background.
"Harry, we need to talk. Can you find somewhere private please?" I said, trying to keep my voice calm as I glanced over the big suitcase by the door.
"Emm, can it wait? We're just about to head for dinner," Harry said back.
I took the phone away from my phone as quickly wiped my eyes and took a shaky breath before putting the phone to my ear again. "No. I need to say this now. Please, can you just find somewhere?" I urged him again.
Harry sighed. "Yeah, hold on," I heard rustling and Harry speaking to someone before it quieted down. "Alright, I'm alone. What's going on?"
Clenching my fist, I looked at the little red wine spot that had dried into the wood one night after we'd knocked over a glass. "Harry," I started. "I can't do this anymore," I told him, blinking quickly.
"What?" He asked confused.
"I think we should take a break from each other. Things haven't been good for a while now and I can't keep holding on to something that's gone," I managed to get out as tears started running down my face.
"No. No, you. No, we're good! I'll be home soon and everything will go back to normal," Harry said shocked back, slowly stammering his words out.
"I'm sorry but I won't be here when you get back," I sniffled and took a deep breath.
"I'll come home now okay? And we'll fix it and everything will be fine! Please, don't leave me. I'll be better, I'll be good, please. I love you so much. I can be home in five hours, six tops. Please," Harry rambled and I heard him start to cry.
"I love you, I'll always love you but it's not enough. We're not enough," I whispered as I closed my eyes
"Please don't do this, please. I'm your baby and you're my love, remember? You told me I would always be your baby! You told me you'd never leave!" Harry sobbed down the line.
"I'm so sorry," I told him. "I'll put the key in through the letterbox okay?" I said.
"No! No, no, no, no," Harry said quickly. "Don't do this, just give me a little time, I promise to be better,"
"There's nothing for you to do Harry, you shouldn't have to change who you are just to make something work," I said as I stood up and walked towards the door. "I'm going to leave now," I whispered as I turned and looked around Harry's house one last time.
"Please, I love you," Harry whimpered as he cried.
Wiping away the tears on my face again, I turned to the door and opened it. "Goodbye, Harry," I said quietly and cried as I could hear Harry crying as well as I brought the phone away. Clicking the red button, I stood in the silence - letting it wash over me. This was it.
It was over.
