Chapter 10

Thomas stands up.

"So there is a shooter targeting me and Jake?

"Uhm.. yes."

"Why? We need to call the cops."

"We can't. Then they will kill all 4 of us."

"So they want us to break up?"

"Yes. Veronica has to be behind all this."

"Has to be, but how did she get your number."

"It was a dude on the phone, so chances are she hired someone."

"What if we stage a break up?"

Jake looks at us. "Fake a break up? How would that work?"

"We call the shooter. We "plan" when and where it will be and boom. Problem solved."

"If only it would be that easy. I say we try it though."

Dean and Vinnie walk in the house.

"Are you guys good?" Vinnie walks over to us.

"Not really.."

"What's going on?"

"There is a shooter targeting Thomas and Jake. They claim that if Jacob and I don't break up then they'll kill them."

"Are you guys gonna break up?" Dean walks over also.

Jacob looks at me. "I don't know."

"We want to try and stage a breakup."

"Nobody will believe that though."

"It's worth a try."

I grab my phone and call the shooter back.

"Alright. If I break up with Jacob, you'll leave them alone?"

"Yep, and you have to let a friend of mine date him."

"What?"

"You heard me. You have to be completely broken up."

My heart drops. I would have to dump my boyfriend to save my friends.

"Okay.. I'll do it."
