Chapter 4

"What?"

Vinnie smiles.

"Vinnie. I still love you. I never stopped."

He wraps his arms around waist, just the way I've missed it.

"Don't worry Syd. I love you too."

I pull him close to me and I kiss him. Vinnie whispers into my ear.

"You have no clue how much I wanted to do that the moment Jacob hurt you the first time."

"It took me way to long to realize."

I kiss him again, but this time Jacob sees. So does Dean, but we can just hear rooting for Vinnie.

Jacob walk over to us.

"So we just broke up and your already making out Hacker again?"

"Yep."

"Cool. I thought that maybe you should know, the Veronica I'm talking to is the one from high school."

My heart drops. The Veronica he was currently talking about was my old best friend.

"Do you mean Veronica Stiller?"

"Mhm. I felt terrible not saying anything."

"Vinnie. Can you ask Thomas if he can take Dean home?"

"Yeah. Are you okay?"

"No. I want to go home."

Vinnie runs over to the table.

"Hey can you guys take Dean home when you leave?"

"Yeah, why?"

"Jacob just said something."

Dean looks at Vinnie. "Is she okay though?"

"I don't know."

Dean and Vinnie walk back over to me.

"Syd, what happened?"

"Do you remember my friend Veronica? From high school?"

"The one I tried dating?"

"Yeah.. that's who Jacob dumped me for."

I could see only fire in Dean's eyes.

"No. Your gonna stay with Thomas and not kill Jacob."

"Why? I'm old enough to not be babysat."

"Nope. Your being babysat." I push back over to Thomas and he gives me the finger.

Vinnie laughs and takes my hand was we walk to the car.

"I love your brother. He's a sweet guy."

"Be careful, Dean develops crushes easy."

"Is he gay?"

"Kinda. He's pan. But he's more into girls."

"I don't know how I would feel having both Payne siblings being into me."

"What can I say, your one fine man."
