- one month later -

"Hey Jacob. Are you busy?"

"Yeah I'm talking to someone. Go figure it put yourself.  Jesus. "

"Okay.. I'll ask Vinnie-"

I knock on Vinnie's door.

"Come in! Oh hey Syd."

"Jacob's being a dick again."

I flop onto Vinnie's bed.

"When are you gonna realize he's cheating on you."

"I don't think he is!"

"Sydney all the signs point to it."

"Well, I technically cheated on you-"

"Yeah, but that was by mistake. His isn't by mistake."

"Then how do I find out?"

"You need to get into his phone."

"Why can't you do it?"

"Because I'm not friends with him anymore."

"It's been 2 months since we broke up and you still haven't talked to him?"

"Nope. And I don't plan on it."

"Oh you are so petty. Anyway, can you open these pickles?"

Vinnie looks at me and laughs.

"Can you actually not open those?"

"No. I can't. Just open them for me please."

"Fine."

- meanwhile -

Jacob gets off the phone.

"Who was that?"

"Veronica. She's this girl I've been talking to."

"Are you cheating on Sydney?"

"What! No! What the fuck Jake-"

"I'm just saying, that's what it sounds like."

"I'm thinking about breaking up with Sydney."

"What why?"

Jacob takes a bite out of his apple.

"She's still in love with Vinnie."

"Well they dated for half a year."

"Yeah, but Chrismas is coming up and Veronica's parents are rich."

"Does Sydney even have any siblings?"

"Yeah, a brother. He's 18."

I walk downstairs.

"Hey baby- do you know where that can of Dr. Pepper is?"

"Uh- is Jake drinking it?"

"Bro what the fuck! That was the last one."

I look up at Jacob. I take a deep breath before I ask.

"Hey Jacob, who were you talking to?"
