The Boss

Meanwhile, in a different location, Chrono was still recovering from the pain. As ordered, he wasn't allowed to work on any task assigned until he fully recovers. Even though he was bored from sitting, he decided to take a walk around. Suddenly, he heard the phone rang from the main office. Noticing that all the other eight bullets were busy working, he slowly walked towards the area and answered it right away.

"Chrono speaking."
"Hi... I was given this number by Overhaul himself."
"And what makes you believe he gave you this number?"
"He... mentioned... about a warning... about... H/N??"

Soon as he mentioned H/N from the phone, Chrono had placed the phone away from his ears for a second. Did the boss really give him this number? He had to be sure.

"Who are you?"
"D-Deku..."
"Are you at a payphone?"
"Yes."
"No police are listening to this conversation right now?"
"No one."
"No pro heroes either, right?"
"I'm all alone."
"Then listen to me. Destroy this number after this call, understand?"
"R-right."
"Now, let me inform my boss about this news. One moment."

He laid the phone to the side and went towards the office. As he entered inside, both Chisaki and Mimic were just discussing further intel on the plan.

Without disturbing him, Chrono started to walk away from their conversation.

"You can stay, Chrono." Overhaul replied. "We've just finished discussing further plans. Why did you come?"
"There's a call waiting for you."
"If it's Shigaraki again, tell him to call right back. He knows very well that patience is a virtue to complete those bullets completely."
"No. It's not him. It's for another. From a Deku."

Chisaki froze for a second.
Mimic has never seen him this shaken before, but Chrono has.
The only other time he's seen this side of him this scarce was with the boss.
After a few moments, he regained his usual self and glanced at Chrono.

"What does he want?"
"It seems like he wants to talk... about YN, my lord."
"...Proceed."

Chrono then slowly placed the phone to his ear and continued forward.

"Now, then, I have spoken with the boss," Chrono continued, "What is it you want to know?"
"I want to see him privately." the voice responded. "I have a favor to ask."
"I see. Hang on."

He placed the phone out for a moment and spoke towards Chisaki.

"Boss, he wants to meet you privately. What should I inform him?"

Silence filled the room as Chisaki thought about this carefully.

"So, it finally happens. Give him the coordinates to one of our private places." ordered Chisaki as he got up from his seat, "Watch over the place while we're gone, Mimic."
"Yes sir."

As Chrono gave him instructions, Chisaki started to leave the room for a moment.

"Be ready to meet at the entrance, Chrono." he ordered, "I need to do something first."
"Yes, my Lord."

Closing the door behind him, he continued to walk towards the destination in question. It was the one place he never thought he needed to see again: the room where the former leader of the Shie Hassaikai rests. The only one who has been in that room were Chrono and him. As he entered inside, he could hear the monitor beeping, the oxygen levels still full at large, and the boss, sleeping silently as the grave.

"Hey pops." he greeted lightly. "Sorry I haven't seen you in a while."

The vegetable said nothing as it laid there unconscious.

"I... I met someone." he continued, "Someone who treats me different. You should've seen her. But now..."

Just then, he felt the same cold stain rolling down his face. It was the same single teardrop he felt in one of his dreams. Why was he feeling like this now? Was it because of his guilt from his pops for getting him in this situation? Or was it for someone else? Suddenly, during mid conflict between himself, he felt a sharp pain coming through him inside and out somehow. As he came to, he looked around his body, just to see where this pain is coming from. He then noticed a small cut located near his hip.

"How'd that get me?" he asked himself.

Using his quirk, he touched his injured hip and tried to fix it, but it has remained unchanged.

Confused at this situation, he felt the same excruciating pain rushing harder throughout his veins and through his entire body. It became so bad that now, he crouched down to the boss' feet as he tries to fight this urge underneath his pain.

"What's going on?" he asked himself.
"Looks like the quirk is activating splendidly." a voice called out from behind.

He turned around to see another figure hiding in the shadows. As he appeared, Overhaul knew right then and there who it was: Black Cat.

"Why are you here?" Overhaul asked.
"What? Am I not allowed to be in here?" Black Cat inquired, "I just figured that your old man could use the company he."
"Don't you touch him!" He growled, activating his quirk to protect him
"Aw, isn't that sweet? You'll help anyone you deem worthy of your protection."
"What do you want?"
"What I want: my sister."

I looked at him confused. Why would his sister have anything to do with this?

"You're going to see her, aren't you? Or have you already met her? The winged hero?"
"What are you talking about? H/N passed away months ago."
"No, dear Overhaul. She's alive."

He was taken a step back for a moment as his power deactivates. She's alive?!

"You really must be naive if you were told by Shigaraki with that news."

He couldn't utter a word as this was a shock for him.

"Don't worry though. You'll see her again. But not in the way that you think."

Just as he finished his sentence, his body started to disappear as he was merging with Chisaki's entire body. The pain Chisaki felt was so hurtful he barely was able to stand up at all.

'You can't get rid of me!' echoed Black Cat.
"I can... and I will!"

Suddenly, as his hand tried to activate his quirk, Black Cat stopped him dead in his tracks.

"What the?" he thought.
'Don't take me for a fool, Kai!' Black Cat chuckled evilly. 'I know you use your quirk to destroy and recreate things, but you won't rid me that easy. I'm but an entity, not of body. Unless you want me to control her, then by all means, I leave and get inside her instead.'
"NO!!! JUST LEAVE HER OUT OF IT!!"
"Then do what I say and no harm will ever come to her."

He froze for a moment as he looked at his old man, laying there, doing nothing. He knew that this must be the consequence his mentor mentioned before he met YN. If he had to risk his own body to protect YN from harm, so be it. In an instant, he surrendered his body and continued to let Black Cat infuse within himself.

'I'm sorry, YN...' Kai apologized internally. 'Truly I am."

And just like that: everything went black.
