Veronica opened her eyes and groaned. Her body was burning, and it hurt to breathe. Her head was throbbing, and her mouth felt like it was filled with cotton. Her stomach felt as if it was stabbed with a burning fire poker, and every muscle felt tense. What was going on?

"Easy Pookie, I'll help lessen the pain for you."

She knew that voice, it couldn't be...could it? She opened her eyes and softly gasped as bright green ones looked down at her with concern but also relief. "Sean," She croaked.

"Hi," he whispered as he placed a straw on her lips. "Sips only right now."

She took a few sips then Sean pulled the cup with the straw away.

"What happened?" She asked as the pain began to lessen just slightly. She could breathe better but her body still ached and felt like it was on fire. There was pain in her lungs and shoulders and her arms were shaking. Tears slipped down her face. What was going on with her body? Why was she in so much pain?

"You were in a car accident," Sean explained softly as he picked up her hand and held it gently. "You were hit by a drunk driver and the car rolled. Do you remember that?" She shook her head which caused her to groan since it was still throbbing to her heartbeat. "I know you remember me, but you do remember everyone else in our family?"

"Yes," She whispered as she tried to focus on something other than the pain.

"That's great, Pookie," he smiled softly. "Can you tell me their names so I can make sure you don't have a concussion please?"

"Head hurts," She mumbled as she tried to lift her hand and groaned, "All hurt."

"I know Pookie, I'm so sorry," He whispered, "The pain medicine should start to work soon. Now can you tell me everyone's name please?"

"Ugh," She groaned, "You Sean Green, there's Owen Blackbourne, Axel Toma," She sighed, "Victor Morgan, North Taylor, Silas Korba," She inhaled and sighed again, "Raven Ravenstahl, Corey Henshaw, Lucian Taylor, Marc Weiland," She took another breath, "Gabriel Coleman, Brandon Henshaw, Nathan Griffin, Dakota Lee, and Max."

"Of course you can't forget Max," He chuckled, "I'm so glad you remember everyone."

"Told you," She mumbled as tears slipped down her face, "Hurt Doc."

"I'm so sorry," He pouted, "I'll increase your dose but it may make you nauseous and sleepy."

"Okay," She closed her eyes and whimpered as the pain in her chest shifted.

"It's the air bubbles in your chest," Sean said as he watched her carefully. "You had to have an operation, Pookie, the car accident caused you to—"

"Oh my god," She gasped, opening her eyes as the memories came back and she began to panic. "Oh my god!" She pulled out of Sean's grasp as her mind began to race with all sorts of thoughts.

"Easy Pookie," Sean said as he tried to hold her hands and calm her down. "Easy Veronica, everything's okay, I promise everything's okay. Breathe, Veronica, you need to breathe."

"Move Sean," A woman's voice spoke softly. "You need to be elsewhere. I have this." Sean moved out of the way and Veronica saw Erica Lee sit before her. "Breathe Dear, just breathe."

"Mommy," She gasped as more tears slid down her face.

"I'm here, I have you," Erica hugged her as Veronica cried even though it hurt her to do so.

"Mommy."

"You're okay, everything is okay, it's okay," Erica whispered over and over as Veronica started to calm down. "Now look at me," Erica gently pulled away, "Everything is okay, I promise." Veronica heard the door open and multiple footsteps but she didn't pay any attention. "There was concern because we didn't know how far along since we couldn't find any records of you in the system and all of you were showing signs of stress so Dr. Roberts determined to go ahead and perform the c-section. They are smally, tiny, but okay. They need to stay here for a few days just to make sure but that's okay because you are going to be here healing. Now are you ready to see your babies?"

"Please," Veronica whispered and Erica nodded.

Erica scooted back and Veronica inhaled softly seeing her ex-boyfriends come stand around her with Owen holding one baby and Sean holding the other. Owen placed one baby in her arms and Sean handed her the other.

"They are so tiny," Veronica whispered as Erica placed a boppy pillow around her stomach to help her hold both of the babies.

"They are," Sean nodded, "but they passed all their tests and doing well."

"They will be getting hungry soon," Erica spoke softly.

"Can I?" Veronica asked as she watched her babies sleep.

"Not right now," Sean shook his head, "The drugs we had to give you aren't safe for them. But if you don't want to formula feed, you can pump and we can dump it and I'll change your meds then once your milk is clean you can breastfeed."

"Will it be hard to switch them?" She asked without looking at the men.

"We are giving them donated milk right now," Erica explained.

The babies started to wake and she smiled as she looked into the grey eyes and green eyes of her twins.
