As much as Vera wanted to deny it, she really did enjoy having the men care for her and the girls. That was one of the good things about there being so many of them, if one felt sick there was another to help her or feed the girls or whatever needed to be done. Although there were times that they were overbearing and wouldn't leave her alone when she was trying to sleep but she knew it was just part of their nature and couldn't help it. They took all the precautions they could but unfortunately, as is with the flu, everyone eventually ended up getting it one by one. It was a couple of months before everyone was back to feeling themselves. Now that Vera felt well again and the girls were back to their normal happy selves, she was ready to go back to her house and get back to work. Unfortunately not everyone agreed with her decision, hence the argument that was currently going on at the moment.

"You really should rest another day," North tried to protest as Vera applied her makeup.

"I am fine, North," She said only half listening to him. "It's been two months now, the girls and I are fine, I need to go back to work. I'm just going back to my house and working in the office. I promise to be careful, besides you will have the girls, seriously what could happen?"

"You could get dizzy and fall and hit your head, you could get tired and fall asleep while something is cooking, you could—"

"I will be at the desk while I work so not going to fall and hit my head, I won't cook so won't burn anything, and if I get tired I will take a nap but will let you know before I lay down," she interrupted. She turned to face him, "You aren't going to stop me from working, North Taylor."

"I'm not," he shook his head, "I just want you to be completely healed before you go back to work."

"So now you don't trust Sean?" She asked curiously.

"What?" He asked confused, "of course I trust Doc."

"But yet you are questioning his decision on me being ready to go back to work?" She frowned, "explain that to me."

"I just—"

"Don't want me to go back to my house," She stated and he sighed. "I know you have loved doting all over me and the girls while we were sick but you are just going to have to accept the fact that I'm not the same girl you use to love, North." She sighed and rolled her eyes, "I can't be that girl that let you do everything for me anymore, I just can't. I want to go back to work and provide for myself and the girls. I need to do this."

North sighed and sat on her bed, "I get it, Baby, I really do, I just..." He sighed again, "I just can't help it."

She smiled softly, "I know, North. As hard as you try to act, you really are just a big old teddy bear and mother hen." She sighed softly, "I know it's in your nature to take control of everything and be all Dom like but if you want me to be your sub again, North, things have to change. I have to stand on my own two feet now and that means I have to work. I need to do this for myself." She walked over to him and knelt down before him. "I'm not leaving again, North Taylor, do you hear me?"

"Yes, Baby," he whispered as he gently ran his fingers down the side of her face. "I hear you."

"I'm not being independent to leave," she gently said, "And I'm not being independent to hurt you or get revenge for how you hurt me. I'm doing this to prove to myself that I'm not JUST your girl, I'm my own person with my own ideas and own identity. Can you understand what I'm saying?"

"Silas said the same thing more than once," he admitted making her smile. "So did Axel."

"Well, they are the ones that are able to see all sides of things," she said softly.

"I'm so sorry, Baby," he whispered as a couple of tears slipped down his face. "I'm so sorry we hurt you."

"Oh North," She whispered as she got up andhugged him tightly. "Thank you."
