Chapter 4

"Welcome back to Top Gun. You are the best of the best." Warlock begins 

"This mission is nothing like you've ever seen. Your skills will be put to the test and pushed past it's limit. Your instructor is a Top Gun graduate himself with three enemy kills." Eli looked at Rooster to see what his reaction was. As she looked at Rooster, she heard footstep come down the aisle. 

"Welcome back, Captain Pete Mitchell. Call sign Maverick." Warlock said as he walked away from the podium. 

"I'm assuming that you know this cover to cover." he says  

"Damn straight!" Payback yells across the room that's when Maverick throws the book in the trash. 

"That's everything you think you know." He continues but Eli and Rooster stare at each other. 

"Did you know he would be here?" Rooster said 

"No, I didn't know. Why did it have to be him?" Eli said under her breathe

"I don't know. But this isn't going to be easy." 

"You think? Are you still mad at him for pulling our papers?" Eli asks 

"Aren't you? He pulled your too." 

"I know he did and I'm still mad but you have to promise not to do anything stupid, okay? Promise me." Eli said sincerely 

"I promise." After Rooster said that everyone got up and headed to their F-18 when Rooster and Eli heard someone call their names. 

"Eliana, Bradley. Rooster, Hawk. Lieutenants Bradshaw." Maverick yelled 

"Yes sir." Eli said sassily 

"Let's not do it like this." 

"Are we dismissed?" Rooster asks in a cocky tone

"You know my head isn't in the right place right now. May I be excused?" Eli said, walking away

"You okay, Hawk?" Bob said as he saw you walking away from Rooster

"Yeah everything is okay. I'm just don't have the right headspace to be in a jet right now." Eli said 

"Okay. See you later." 

"Yeah. See you later." Eli said with a smile as she walked away from the airstrip.
