*Ring Ring Ring*

Ugh. Another morning. I hate mornings. It probably doesn't help that I went to sleep at 1 in the morning.

I get out of bed and I throw on a pair of baggy ripped jeans and a wool sweater, before heading out into the kitchen.
- "Good morning, y/n." my roommate says
- "Morning." I reply.

I take a granola bar, and then pick up my laptop and toss them both into my bag.
- "Heading out, see ya." I say to my roommate.
- "Bye." she replies.

I leave the building and head to my favourite coffee shop. I like how it's nice and quiet, especially in the mornings. I sigh with a smile.

The waiter comes by my table, and asks me if I would like anything.
- "I will just have a latte." I say with a soft smile.

5 minutes pass, and the waiter brings me my latte
- "Enjoy." He says kindly.
I just smile back. It's nice to know there are still some good people out there.

2 hours later.

I'm heading out of the coffee place to go to the store, when suddenly, this person attacks me!
- "What the fuck!" I shout.
- "Shhh." This man says, while covering my mouth.

He's tall, with slightly long hair. He also has pretty blue eyes. He's not overly muscular but isn't skinny like a twig. He's got several tattoos up his arms, and I can see some on his chest. He's actually hot, now that I think about it. He's wearing a grey t-shirt with a leather jacket, black leather jeans and leather boots.

God. I need to snap out of it.

He appeared out of nowhere and stabbed the man who attacked me.
- "Who are you?! You just murdered him!" I exclaim
- "I didn't murder him." He rolls his eyes.
- "Yes you di-" he cuts me off by covering my mouth.
- "Listen, he's not what you think he is, and by the fact that you can see me, clearly shows that you aren't either. Okay?".
- "Follow me. It's not safe here." He says.

I follow him for a little and we come up to this building. Woah! It looks like a castle! Ive never noticed it before. It's right in the middle of town.

We walk in and he closes the door behind us. The lock mechanism on this door is insane!

He leads me to a sitting room.
- "I feel.. light.. headed."
Those were the last words I said before I blacked out.

Ugh. My head.

I open my eyes and look around. My surroundings are unfamiliar. I look to my left and find the tall, blond man sitting next to me on a chair.

- "You're awake, I see." The man says, slightly leaning his head.

I look around, before deciding to sit up.

- "Where am I?" I question.
- "You're in the institute. In the infirmary." He replies with a stern look.

I look down at my arm, and notice.. a tattoo? Is this guy serious? I pass out and he tattoos me?

- "You tattooed me?" I look up from my arm.
- "It's a rune. You got a wound due to the demon attack." He replies.
He's looking at me dead in the eye. It's kinda menacing.
- "A demon?" I ask.
- "Yes. Demons, vampires, werewolves, warlocks. Everything you heard of as a kid, all the stories are true." He says, looking at the ground.
- "So.. what are you?" I fidget with my hands.
- "I am a shadowhunter. I fight demons." He looks up, and stares at me.

I'm so confused.

- "The fact that the rune didn't kill you, confirms my suspicion. You have shadowhunter blood." He says calmly.
I look up and meet his gaze. His blue eyes are mesmerizing.
- "I will help you learn more about Shadowhunters and what you can do." He adds.
- "What about my regular life..?" I ask.
- "This is your life now." He looks at me.

Oh. I look away before changing the subject.

- "Hey, I never caught your name."
- "My name is Jace. Jace Wayland. What's yours?" He asks.
- "Y/N L/N." I reply.

He smiles.

- "Well, y/n. Let me show you to your room. First, I will get Isabelle to get clothes for you." He smiles.

Ugh. I didn't really notice until now, but he has a hot British accent.

Isabelle brings me clothes and I quickly change.

Jace shows me to my room. It's actually really pretty.

- "It's so pretty!" I smile.
He looks like he's thinking about something.
- "Like you." He adds.

Oh. My. God.

I blush and look towards the ground. He puts a hand on my lower back and guides me out of the room.

- "Hodge is in the library. He wants to meet you." Jace says, back to his regular self.
- "Okay. I reply.
I don't bother asking who hodge is, because I figure I will find out soon enough.
