We arrived back at the institute, and headed straight to the library. Hodge was sitting at his desk.
- "We got the cup." I announce.
I rest the napkin onto the table, before pulling out the cup. I hold it up examining all the intricate details engraved into the cup. It's so pretty.
- "Very good." Hodge approves. "I would actually like to talk to you alone y/n."
- "Okay..?" I respond.
The others leave the room. I turn to watch them leave. Jace gives me a final glace. He smiles softly, before turning to exit the room. The large doors shut with a thud. I turn my gaze back to Hodge.
-"Could I take a look at the cup?" He smiles.
I nod, and hand the cup to Hodge.
- "Wow. That's where its been all this time." He turns and walk towards the portal.
- "Hodge, what are you doing?" I question.
He ignores me. He continues unlocking and opening the portal. Once the portal fully open, he turns to look at me.
- "I've been waiting years for this moment. Y/n, you don't know what it's like to be trapped in this building." He says with a solid expression.
That's when someone comes out of the portal. I immediately know who it is. However, it is not because I recognize him. Valentine.
- "Well well well. I knew you would bring me this someday." Valentine chuckles as Hodge hands him the cup. "I'm glad to finally meet my daughter."
DAUGHTER?! I'M NOT RELATED TO THAT PIECE OF SHIT!
- "I'm not your daughter! You are a monster!" I shout.
- "Hmm. Monster isn't quite the word I would describe myself as." He disagrees.
I look at Hodge. He's staring at the ground. Silent. Valentine starts taking steps towards me.
- "Stay back! Stay the fuck away from me!" I yell.
Suddenly the door slams open. Jace.
- "Leave her alone you piece of shit!" Jace shouts.
He runs down the stairs as fast as he can, shoving Valentine to the ground. The cup flies out of his hand and clanks onto to floor. I make eye contact with Hodge, before darting for the cup. I successfully grab it first and shove it into a piece of paper beside me.
Jace and Valentine turn, seeing me putting the cup into the paper.
_ "NO! YOU FUCKING BITCH!" Valentine screams.
He hits Jace and pushes him onto the ground. He zooms towards me trying to grab me by the throat but I roll over onto the ground. I put the paper into my coat. I scurry to my feet and rush for a knife.
- "Stay back." I warn.
- "Oh, because I'm scared of a little girl like you." He laughs.
Jace sneaks up behind him and grabs him in a choke hold. However, Valentine breaks his hold and grabs Jace tightly, walking him over to a pillar. He pushes him against it and pulls a knife to his throat, leaving light cuts on his neck. Small drops of blood trickle onto his shirt.
- "Leave him alone." I say angrily.
- "Oh sweetheart. Now why would I do that?" He smiles.
- "Never call me that again. Now leave Jace alone, and I will give you the cup." I hiss.
- "Now we are talking." His smile grows wider.
He lets go of Jace and walks towards me.
- "You don't have to do this, y/n." Jace says cautiously.
I give him a look. I turn and walk over to the table, only a few feet away from the portal. I pull the paper out of my coat and gently place it onto the wood surface. Valentine stands behind me. I pull the cup out of the paper and turn around, handing him the cup. He takes it with a smile.
I look at Jace before slabbing Valentines stomach.
- "This is what happens when you hurt people I love!" I shout.
Proceeding to kick him really hard. The impact causes him to fly into the portal. I manage to grab the cup before he falls in. I slam the portal doors shut.
Jace looks at me in shock. I turn to Hodge and walk to him. He looks scared.
- "You betrayed me! You betrayed us all!" I shout.
I smack Hodge in the face.
Jace runs up behind me and pulls me close to him. I rest my face in his chest. I'm breathing heavily, still trying to process what just happened.
- "Shhhh. It's okay. It's okay." He comforts me.
Surprisingly it works. His voice is very calming.
- "Come on." He mumbles into my hair.
We start walking out of the room as the LIghtwoods are walking in.
- "What happened?" Isabelle asks.
Jace tells them the story.
- "Lock up Hodge until we can get him to the Clave." He says sternly.
They both nod and walk to Hodge.
We turn and head up the stairs to my room. I kick off my boots and toss my jacket on the chair. I struggle out of my clothes, before pulling on an over sized tee. That's when I turned around and noticed Jace staring at me.
- "What? It's not like you haven't seen me before." I laugh as I make my way to the bed.
He remains frozen. I pull the sheets and crawl into bed.
- "Come on Jace." I add.
He turns to look at me, pulling off his shirt and crawling into bed with me.
I rest my head on his chest. I could get used to this. I smile as I bury my face into his neck.
- "Y/n?"
- "Yeah?"
- "You really love me that much to hurt your dad?" Jace mumbles. "I- Uhm. I heard him say it through the door."
- "It's okay, but he's not my dad. He's nothing to me." I shrug.
- "I love you, y/n. So much." He mumbles.
- "What?" I ask. Knowing very well I heard him.
- "I love you, y/n." He says slightly louder.
I smile and look up at him.
- "I heard you the first time." I giggle. "I love you too." I press a soft kiss onto his lips.
