Alec leads me out into the halls, far enough away from the door to my room.

- "I saw you and Jace walking in the halls, past my room. I told you to stay away from him." He says angrily.

I have nothing to say.. I don't know what to say.

That's when it hits me.

- "Just admit how you feel about Jace, we both know that it's what this is all about." I say, annoyed.

It all happened so quick. Alec has me pinned to the wall by my throat.

- "If I ever hear you say that again, I will kill you!" He shouts.

I can barely.. breathe.

All of a sudden, Alec was thrown off me and onto the floor. I fall to my knees, gasping for air.

- "Leave her alone Alec! If I ever catch you hurting her again, I will fucking kill you. Do I make myself clear?!"

I see Alec nodding, before getting up and retreating to his bedroom. A hand appears in front of me. I grab on and raise myself to my feet. It's Jace. He quickly pulls me into his arms.

- "Are you okay?" He says with worry.

- "Yes, I'm okay." I hug him back tighter. "Thank you, Jace."

We stand there for a while, hugging. I break the hug.

- "We should go to sleep." I say.

He says nothing. Just nods.

We both walk back to our rooms.

The next morning

Ugh. I always forget how much I hate mornings. I scurry out of bed and make my way to the kitchen. Half asleep stumbling down the halls.

Why is it so dark in here?

- " FUCK!"

I stubbed my toe, really hard on.. what the fuck.

- "Y/n?" I hear a voice coming from the darkness.

Jace. Shit.

- "Yes, I'm so sorry. I was half asleep and wasn't looking where I was headed and it was pretty dark. I just stubbed my toe." I start rambling.

_ "Hey, hey, shhh. It's okay." He reassures me.

- "Okay." I take a deep breath. "I'm gonna head down. I'll let you sleep. Goodnight." I turn to walk out.

- "I will wake up soon. Goodnight, y/n"

God. I'm so stupid. That was so embarrassing.

Once I get to the kitchen. I start the coffee machine, and watch the coffee pour into a mug. I love coffee. I grab my coffee, and make my way over to the library.

I pull out a chair in the library, and sit down, placing my coffee onto my notebook. I must've left it down here yesterday, before leaving to my apartment. Oh well.

I examine the rune on my arm, comparing it to the runes in the book. I go to take a sip of coffee, and then.. What the fuck. I can't grab my cup. I run my hand over the sheet of paper. Flat. I get up and crouch on my knees. The cup.. It's.. Merged? Into the paper.. ?? What the actual fuck.

I sit back into my chair and reach to the paper to attempt grabbing my cup. Oh my god! I pull the cup out of the paper. This must be one of the things my mom was talking about!

- "Your mother was the only person able to do that." I hear the voice from beside me.

Hodge.

I turn to face him.

- "You knew my mother..?" I ask in total confusion.

- "Yes. She was the shadow hunter who ran away with the mortal cup. She was a powerful shadow hunter, y/n." He responds while approaching me.

- "Why didn't you tell me??" I say, obviously annoyed.

- "I wanted you to learn on your own." He replies calmly. "There's a lot of things you do not yet know, nor understand, y/n. That is why I need to let you find out certain things on your own. It will make things easier for you. Your abilities came naturally. That's what we want. Your mothers memory spell worked out really well. So well that it even suppressed your abilities, along with your memories."

Silence.

It's hard to take in. However, he's probably right. I need to find my abilities within myself..

Jace.

I think I know where she hid the cup.

I run to Jace's room. I don't even bother knocking. Instead, I barge in. Oh no! Shit shit shit shit.

- "I am so sorry!" I shout while covering my eyes.

He's naked, just out of the shower.

I hear footsteps approaching me.

- "It's okay." He whispers in my ear, before shutting the door.

I. AM. SUCH. AN. IDIOT.
